This hotel is in an ideal location to get away from the noise and bustle of the touristy areas. It is in an up-and-coming area where there are a lot of good restaurants and a place where locals spend their time.

Our stay at Arco dé Tolomei was very face to face.
On the last day we could stay at our room until leaving Rome at 4pm (check out time). ... The best place at Rome!

The directions that I printed from the website were the only problem that we had with our stay. Everything else was wonderful. ... I will recommend this guest house to anyone who visits Rome, but I will warn them to arrange a driver to pick them up because the place was difficult to find based on the directions that were given. ... The concierge was helpful and efficient. She also helped us to arrange a driver to the airport because the taxi drivers were on strike. ... It was great to have a communal breakfast with other guests. In addition, the concierge was very helpful and knowledgeable. ... The room was spacious and pleasant, with a comfortable bathroom. It was fun to open the shutters in the room and to watch the neighbors going by, especially when Italy won the semi-finals in the World Cup!

Arco de Tolomei in rome was a wonderful place to stay. Great location, fabulous breakfast (unusual in Italy). The hosts were wonderful, always eager to help and very accomadating. The rooms were clean, relatively spacious, very quiet. It was a quaint cottage like home in the middle of a busy city. I would recommend it.

We were made to feel exceptionally welcome and served tea and biscuits cold water and shown our lovely accommodation immediately. We were offered advice and assistance with information about our stay both at the guesthouse and surrounding area ... Lovely home from home in a quaint setting peaceful with excellent restaurants nearby and all main tourist attractions within easy walking distance .A feel of real Rome rather than the hub bub of tourist town ! ... no ... small and intimate always willing to help but never pushy.Room clean and decent size. Setting in a small and natural square, felt more like home than paid accommodation,Breakfast plentiful and fresh. Location perfect for being away from the noise and rush of the town but close to walk easily to the sites.

There had been a misunderstanding about the nature of my travel mate; we were two women, friends, traveling together, and apparently Arco de Tolomei thought we were a couple. They had made up the two beds as one. When we arrived they understood the mistake, and although we told them it was not necessary to remake the beds separately (we've been friends since age 12, and the bed was quite big in any case!), they immediately remade the beds--even though we we had arrived quite early, way in advance of check-in time, due the early-morning arrival of our plane. We were allowed access to our room within minutes, which was wonderful. Our welcome couldn't have been better. ... The property very closely resembled the images on the website, except that our room was more charming, spacious, and light-filled than it appears there. We loved the location of the B&B--apart from hectic touristy locales, with it's own sense of neighborhood, yet close enough to walk to many of the attractions in which we were interested. The breakfast was a banquet in a lovely dining room, and the service quite attentive. My only (slight) disappointment was that after a certain hour in the early afternoon, the guests are pretty much on their own, as the staff departs. I had interpreted remarks from satisfied guests on TripAdvisor to mean that the owners of the B&B were present all the time, dispensing copious amounts of advice and personal recommendations, but in actuality, we hardly saw them. This was our first visit to Rome and we were ignorant about certain basics, such as, you cannot hail a taxi on the street, but must find the taxi stand. Thus we had a lot of questions. Perhaps most of Arco de Tolomei's guests are European and thus savvier about how to get around. I should mention, though, that I was very grateful that the elegant Marco (I believe that is the correct name) carried my horribly heavy suitcase up a couple of flights of stairs to the B&B when we arrived. Also, Catia very kindly made dinner reservations for us in advance. ... Guests should be prepared, if they wish to take a taxi to the train station or airport, that because Arco de Tolomei is a bit difficult to find, they may need to bring their luggage down to an appointed meeting place or to the taxi stand, which is some blocks away. ... Unfortunately the breakfast room was closed due to a leak, but we were given reduction from our room rate to allow for breakfast in a neighbouring cafe. All in all I found the guest house to be totally delightful, quietly stylish and fabulously located. ... No, except that the photos on the website don't do justice to the beautifully furnished and stylish rooms. ... Located in a peaceful backstreet the heart of Trastevere. Hosts speak very good English and are very welcoming and helpful, without ever being intrusive.

We arrived at 1am and our hist was waiting outside for us and could not have been more helpfull ... Help and politeness always.Any advice or help was gladly given to us.I would consider it A Gem of a Guest House in Central Rome. It was comfortable, homely, friendly and spotless. Breakfast was a delight, all guests sitting at one large antique table. It afforded us the opportunity to meet and share hints and tips on our and their trip and to get to know each other. ... It was a friendly experience, chatting with staff, sitting in the lovely lounge area. It was not a problem to come back at 2pm and we were given the use of a bedroom and bathroom. ... Yes, we would not have found it on our own too easily,as there are no signs to indicate its whereabouts. Marco had ordered a taxi for us and he was obviously familiar with the house.Stress the friendliness of the host and staff. It is so central that there is no need to use transport other than feet in a comfortable pair of shoes.A peaceful nights sleep was had all as there is no noise from the streets outside. ... A Gem,central, comfortable, friendly, its like staying in a friend home and being very welcome.

The owner even carried my bags upstairs! ... The guest house was better because we had a chance to get to know the owners, Marco and Gianna, who are lovely people, and went out of their way to help us make dinner reservations, and enjoy our Rome stay. ... A charming guest house in an old residential neighborhood walking distance to all of the sites and close to the best restaurants. The owners are a classy, charming couple and the staff is superb. The rooms are pretty, and the free Internet service is wonderful.

Tea/Coffee and home made cake offered on our afternoon arrival ... Would not have beeb value for money if it were not for the fact it was in a capital city. In England a bed and breakfast option would usually be cheaper than a hotel. In Rome this does not appear to be the case. ... Older people would appreciate knowing you have to climb two sets of stairs to reach the property. ... A very friendly couple own the bed and breakfast / very informal home from home feel, with a very efficient assistant in the mornings who helps with breakfast needs and planning / recommending ideas for tourists in Rome. Free internet access was a nice bonus.

Most helpful advice from the owner regarding restaurants nearby and suggestions for trips. ... The only negative was that there wasn't a nice view. ... You could mention that some rooms don't have much of a view. ... Wonderful location, quiet and peaceful, fantastic breakfast and lovely personal service but our room didn't have a view.

The building where the guesthouse is located is n0 27 via del tolomei - no large sign marking the location. It is listed on the right hand side of the door - press the button and someone will answer and then come down and let you in. Up 3 flights of stairs (small). It took awhile to locate the property. Would recommend taking train from Fiumicino airport to Trastevere station then getting taxi to property. ... I have no hesitation in recommending this property to other travellers - friendly, knowledgeable management and staff, great location, clean, comfortable room ... free wireless access to internet able to use computer provided or use your own laptop (great plus!!!) ... cosy charming home away from home in a traditional Italian neighbourhood within walking distance of major attractions

It's best to arrange a car through the hotel if you are coming from the airport. Taxi drivers do not seem to know such small streets in that area. ... Owners and staff were available to guide and answer questions and help plan your day. Obviously they were very interested in making your stay at the hotel a pleasant one. ... Again, have them call a cab or arrange a pick up car ahead of time for your departure. Luggage would be a problem walking to the cab stand. Great value by Rome standards. ... Comfortable, inviting, warm ambience with very clean accomodations that were 'old world' charming. Good restaurants nearby, within walking distance of buses, taxi stand, and rail.

the owners were not present, but the housekeeper was very polite and helpful ... the first impression of the property is poor as the entrance is through an old and bit run down staircase. The guest house on the 2nd floor is very cosy and elegant: antiques, paintings, very nice furniture, terraces on every room and nice bathrooms. The owners are very helpful and kind and their pets friendly. Peaceful and inviting location very near to the best of Rome. ... without any problem. ... Cosy, friendly, not too expensive and interesting position

Although the address was clear it took us a while to find as there was no sign and the doorway just looked like normal residential flats. Eventually after asking a few people we found the right door and saw that there was a bell which said 'Residenza Arco Tolomei'. ... The room we had was lovely - upstairs at the back with terrace. From what I could see this was the best room and so if I had been given one of the rooms downstairs off the living room area I think I would have been disappointed. ... As were not flying back to London till the evening we asked to keep our room (although we checked out and paid in the morning). Initially they were not too keen on this but eventually they agreed. The problem otherwise is that there is no seperate toilet to use at the guest house so once you have checked out the only available space to use is the living area but no toilet, which is inconvenient if you have been out all day sightseeing and then want to be able to return to the guesthouse to pick up your bags and ;freshen-up' before leavng for the airport ... As per above ... Charming guesthouse in heart of Trastevere - great location.
