We booked 4 rooms - 2 were recently refurbished but 2 were older and definitely needed refurbishing. I was disappointed that 1 room had a strong smell of cigarettes.

Fantastic location, helpful staff. Ask for a newly refurbished room. The breakfast isn't overly appetising but the coffee is good. We booked 4 rooms for a long weekend and overall the hotel was perfect for our needs.

The person on reception was very courteous and helpful. He provided a map with some recommendations on buses and places to both visit and avoid.

The room was quite compact and really didn't afford any space to rest other than by lying on the bed. While a television was provided it was on the window ledge and thus its positioning was poor. Shower room/Toilet was good.

I required a taxi and although I only requested it at the check-out stage, it arrived very promptly.

While coffee, fruit juice and bread were provided for breakfast, in my view it was not of an acceptable standard. The fruit juice was of the processed type and bread rolls were poor quality. Although breakfast was included in the rate I only availed of it on the first of my three-day stay. Fresh fruit would have been a nice addition.

While its location is excellent and many of the 'must-see' sites are within walking distance of the hotel, it is still expensive for what you get. Staff were courteous. If it was possible to get a cheaper rate and one without breakfast, then I would recommend it, otherwise No!

unfortunatly the room smelt very strongly of drains.
apart from this the accommodation was good.

Nice but small room. In a very good location though.Helpful staff.Room needs some drawer space.The staff was unable to provide an ironing board for my wife so we had to usethe chair.

The directions do not make it totally clear where the hotel is situated relative to the nearest Metro stations. Colosseo station is probably closer than Cavour.

Contrary to what was promised, there was no material for ironing washed clothes. Bathroom supplies of toiletries were not replenished at all. There was no chair or desk to sit and work with a computer. Lighting was poor. There was a small table attached to the wall that the (small) TV completely filled - and which risked falling off the wall! The computer next to reception, available free for Internet (hurrah!), stopped working on day 2 until the end of my 5-day stay. All TV channels are in Italian except one in German and CNN, where the picture was replaced by a snowstorm and you have only the sound. A little more choice at breakfast would be welcome, although I realize that in Italy breakfast is an unimportant meal.

Well situated and clean. Acceptable provided you don't intend to use the room for much more than sleeping.

The hotel is in an excellent location and is an ideal place to stay whilst sighseeing. Although the facilities are basic, they are more than adequate if you just need a place to stay whilst sightseeing. Rooms are large and clean. They are airconditioned, windows are soundproofed and there is a television and a mini bar/fridge. The bathrooms are also large and the showers were great - powerful and roomy.
The reception staff were very helpful and it was this that really set the hotel apart. They were a pleasure to talk to and were happy to answer any questions and provide directions.
I am very pleased we stayed at the Solis and would be more than happy to stay there again.

Our rooms were ready at 1:30 when we came into town. The receptionist spoke English well and pointed out some sites to see.

Some of the staff did not speak much English and we had to use some sign language and did have some fun trying to communicate! I did end up getting the extra pillows!
The room was very small for 4 of us but we didn't stay in the room very much at all. We stayed in the front of the hotel and were not bothered by the noise at all, the windows were excellent and I am a light sleeper.
I think the bathroom could've been cleaner, ran out of toliet paper and the air conditioning was adequate but not very cool.

We did have a problem with the hired car that took us to the airport. We had 2 seperate receptionists call and confirm that the car service would take credit. We got to the airport and the driver said no credit. He also spoke limited English. In my limited Italian we finally paid in euro and dollars (we did not have enough euro)

The best thing about this hotel is the location, who cares about room size when you are that close to the Coliseum and the Forum- spectacular. Very close to the metro which was easy to use.
