The key and lock to our room was extremely old and didn't work very well - it was very particular about how you held the key and opened the lock. I had to go to the receptionist for help, but he couldn't leave to assist me because there was nobody else to look after the front desk. Eventually we figured out the lock and got in. I noticed that some of the other locks were newer, so perhaps the old ones were in the process of being updated. If so, that would be a good thing.
...
I wasn't expecting maid service during the day, so was surprised to see that our beds were made and somebody had been in our room each day. Initially I didn't feel very good about that.

Also, the breakfast that was included, was very minimal. We didn't get a choice for food. All we could have was bread rolls. If we didn't like the bread rolls, that was all they were offering. It would have been better to at least have one other choice.

The security of the hotel was excellent. We felt safe with all of the locked doors that needed to be buzzed to get through.
...
Because we left at 4am we had to chance leaving our key at the doorway to the office because the office was closed and nobody was answering the buzzers. Having a drop off box for our key would have made us feel more at ease, rather than just leaving the key for anybody to see and use.
...
I would reccommend Hotel Seiler to a friend. It is in a great location, and it seems that everybody knows where it is (eg, taxi drivers, and bus drivers!), so either it has a good reputation, or a bad one. We think that it would probably have a good reputation.

Check-in time was a little problematic for me because I arrived in Rome early in the morning and couldn't check in for several hours because my room wasn't ready when I first arrived. I would recommend adopting a bit more flexibility in terms of check-in times in order to accomodate travelers who are bound by their flight times as to when they arrive.

I do, however, like the fact that, even though I couldn't check in when I first arrived, the staff did allow me to leave my luggage until I could check in, so I wouldn't have to take it all over the city while I waited to check in.
...
The experience was wonderful. It was, in fact, even better than my previous stay in November of 2006. The room was much larger, and the shower was also not only larger, but it worked better. The only complaint that I might have, though, would be that I preferred the bidet in the room that I had in November; it was much easier to use.
...
I would recommend Hotel Seiler to anyone who wanted an inexpensive place for a short-term stay in Rome.
...
Travelers should be aware that the rooms may not always be as large as implied in the website images and descriptions. My room on my first stay in November 2006 was far too small, especially the shower in the bathroom.
...
I would say that it is a good place to stay if you are looking for an inexpensive, short-term stay of a few days.

The receptionist was extremely helpful at 1am when we arrived and did his best to make our check in as quick and easy as possible due to our late arrival.
...
Very clean and spacious hotel.
...
Our baggage was looked after due to our early check-out and we were able to come back in our own time and collect it with no hassal. We handed the key back and were wished a safe journey.
...
The site failed to mention the close proximity of all the sites and the excellent location to one of Romes main streets (Via Nazionale) we were very impressed with the location.
...
Excellent! The location is superb due to the nearness of the Termini and the surrounding sights e.g. the Colloseum, the roman forum, the monument of the unknown soldier, palatine hill and the Trevi fountain.

I got confused with directions because I was unsure which direction based on which exit when leaving the train station. I walked from Termini, which is very close and convenient. I'll stay in the area again.
...
The toilet went out on me and I was told I needed to push the button repeatedly to get it to work. I did and it did, but my thumbs were sore after my stay in Rome!
...
I had pre-paid upon my arrival and did not use any chargeable amenities. It was time to leave and I left the key said good-bye and thank you and was on my way.
...
I needed more coffee and asked and got it in the morning. I stayed 7 nights and I got new towels after the first night and the night before I left. I don't need clean towels daily, but it could have been spaced better. Maybe, the maids did not know the length of my stay. My bed was made everyday. The bathroom floor should have been cleaned daily. It was the shower floor, too.
...
Great location. Good value. Consistant and friendly service. Basic rooms...I use rooms when I travel as a place of rest, not to hang out. The bathroom is a cultural experience for Americans...but I traveled in Thailand, so I've experienced toilet shock! Carried my own toilet paper there. The water pressure once trickled when the rooms were filled and everyone tried to shower. I would go back and stay.

The Quality of the room was very good! Only the bathroom was very small. It was very uncomfortable. Especially the space in and around the shower and the toilet were very limited. But again, the room was very comfortable...

I was satisfied with the room. That was all nothing else. My wife and my daughter got treated very bad at breakfast, they were ignored. People that came after them got seated before them, finally they decided to seat on a dirty table, still they were not served untill they requested service. At that time the lady acted like she didn't understand english. I reported to the receptionist, she did appologize but didn't beleive that could posibly happened.

my room was noisy as it was off the main corridor, so that other guests often stand outside my door, talking and smoking late at night.
I expected the room to be fairly small, so that was no surprise.
The bathroom was worse than in the photo.
I think that perhaps you could state that the photos on the website are those of a certain standard of room, so that others booking a room for one will not assume that ALL rooms have the same standard of bathroom, or floor covering (eg carpet or floorboards).
Otherwise, the hotel was well-situated, and the staff were very friendly and efficient.

The only think I would highlight is that we got the room on the 4th floor, which by the way was being restored. A guest NEVER can accept that at 07:30am the workers begin to make plenty of noise. I don't know the Italian law, but in Spain it is forbidden to make noise until 09:00 in the morning.

The only problem we had was with the first step of the directions. We were walking and it states 'walk toward Piazza de Republica'. We walked around for an hour trying to find it because our maps didn't have all the streets.

Hotel Seiler is in a great location, which makes it easy to access the subway and train station. You can take a quiet walk along the Via Firenze or walk a little further to see some of Roma's most attractive sites. The staff was polite and helpful.

The rooms did not have heat and we actually had to move locations twice due to heat issues. We were told upon complaint that it was central heat that came on at 8:30 pm each day and then went off in the morning. No heat came from the radiator in our room.

In addition, they were only going to give us bath towels every other day, but they did not dry due to having no heat. The attitude we got back upon complaint of this was very poor. I would not return to this hotel nor would I recommend to anyone!!!

The entrance lobby and access to the Hotel were better than I expected. The room and ensuite were both clean, and adequately (though cheaply) furnished. A light fitting was broken, the cupboard was so flimsy it tilted when you opened the door. The hotel was quiet, and I had a good night's sleep. I was happy with the quality of the hotel for the price.

This is a 2 star hotel, but compared to others for example the one we used in Paris, on the same trip, it is my opinion that the Hotel Seiler should be downgraded as the rooms floor was very dirty, it is hardwood and need some urgent attention. They did not change the towels everyday, and even when we told them they said it was their policy to change them every other day. however, they did not even adhere to their own policy, i.e., they did not change towels even every second day.
