The hotel was lovely. I wouldn't say
luxurious, but beautiful and friendly, which
is even better. The staff was wonderful, the
atmosphere charming, and breakfast and
afternoon snacks in the courtyard were
wonderful. We hope to come back someday!

Much better than expected because our room was ready even though we had arrived earlier than the normal check-in time. The receptionist provided enough information including a map for getting around and we appreciated that he spoke good English.

Everything was brilliant for this surprise treat for my partners birthday. The location was our ideal base for exploring Rome on foot yet convenient taxi ride at the end of a wary day. The hotel was situated in an area devoid of traffic and once in the courtyard with its orange trees you soon forget the hustle and bustle of the city. The breakfasts set us up properly for our daily trails.

our arrival time changed due to changed plane schedule so we were unable to use the taxi sent for us by the hotel. We got a taxi at the aiport but the driver could not get us directly to our hotel. We had to walk from Via Trastevere to our hotel, which was not a long walk. Fortunately, nice people helped us find the hotel because it is very complicated. Once we arrived at the hotel, Mr. Pasquale was extremely nice. The staff helped us get our lost bag from the airport (Air Italia). They kept calling the airport and the bag was delivered the next day.

We loved the Hotel Santa Maria. Once we learned our way around, it was very convenient. It is close to the buses. The hotel was extremely clean and very, very nice. We would highly recommend it to others. The staff was outstanding and very kind and helpful. Your website would be better if you included a more detailed map showing the small streets leading into and around Piazza Santa Maria.

I would strongly recommend you stay at the Hotel Santa Maria. There are iron gates for security at the hotel entrance. We felt safe at all times. It is convenient to walk from the hotel to Via Trastevere and points of interest nearby. The bus system is great. Near the hotel are several fine restaurants and pizzarias. Our teens loved the pizza, especially the Pizza Margherita. Afternoon tea at our hotel was great. If we are fortunate to return to visit Rome, we will stay at the Hotel Santa Maria.

I should have arrange a taxi from the airport
earlier. I emailed for one the day before,
but apparently they did not get the email,
so none was there. It is not easy to get
to the hotel otherwise, so there service would have been worth it.

It's best hotel booking site I've run into so far: clear, easy to use, you can pick the area where you want to stay and it give's you the accommodation in that area (SUPER!). And a lot's of pictures of the hotel!

Hotel organized our pick up service from airport. I traveled with small child, so it was really present they can organize it. And not deal with Roman taxi.

My little son was also very happy with their guest friendly atmospher. Great breakfirst. With fresh fruit and bread, and a nice cup of cuppccino. Room was really cute. We had a suite with my parents and son. 4 of us could stay comfortably in that big suit.

the only problem was that i had requested in advance for a pick up from airport and they gave me the name of someone who i worked an arrangement with. (apparently he works for the hotel sometimes). anyway he messed up the date and did not pick us up, nor did he or the hotel apologize.

An amazing hotel hidden off the main streets and easily missable if you didn't know it was there, but an absolute gem and would definately stay there again. We heard about Santa Maria from friends who had lived nearby in Rome. So I did not rely completely on the web-site for information. Do you state on the web-site that the Church of Saint Francis is nearby? We only had one day in rome and that was a wonderful thing to see.Also, I forgot to book a car from the hotel, so I'm not sure we would have found it if we hadn't found our friends at the airport.

In spite of the directions, the taxi driver became hopelessly lost, as do most taxi drivers, unless they have GPS with a map, rather than text directions. Ours was finally reduced to calling the hotel.

It would be better to forget about scrambled eggs or cooked breakfast, and just serve cold breakfast. The pastries looked very attractive, but the taste was disappointing.
The afternoon buffet was also disappointing. The fruit was the best part.
How about showing off carefully selected local (Lazio) specialties — cheese, wine, fruit, etc?. Producers might even want to promote their products

However, anyone not inclined or able to walk, would be at a disadvantage, since taxis must be summoned by phone, and taxi drivers have difficulty finding the hotel.

Quiet, secluded and private with a very helpful but unobtrusive staff which speaks remarkably good English. The hotel is a cool oasis among the crowds and the heat. The overall sense is one of 'home away from home'.

It would be helpful to include information
on reaching the hotel by train from the
airport (FCO), both to Termini, but also to
Trastevere station and then tram 8. I know
about this 'quick route', because I've been
to Rome many times, but most travellers
would take the train to Termini, from where
it's harder to reach the hotel by public
transport. Also, trains to Trastevere are
more frequent and it's a few Euros cheaper!

The hotel is charming and secluded yet steps away from the lively atmosphere of Trastevere and fairly close to most of the major attractions in Rome. The landscaping and decor of the hotel are adorable and inviting; the property is immaculately maintained.

I will not stay there again due to the price. We stayed at many hotels in Italy & many of them were twice as nice for half the price.

We lost our lugggage. Good service from the hotell in searching for the luggage. When the luggage finally arrived the hotell forgot telling us. We saw ours suitcases accidently as we were going out the day after (for shopping clothes because of the lost luggage.) Strange.....

Wonderful property and the best hotel
experience we've had in six trips to
Rome. Staff is exceedingly helpful and
friendly-- uncommon in Rome.
The only drawback-- and this can be
easily rectified-- is the hotel is
located down a very tiny roadway that is
hard to find, even on a Michelin map, in
a labyrinth of narrow sidestreets. Our
cab driver dropped us about fifty yards
from the hotel, and we asked for
directions for those final steps.

The room was cramped, and the beds were little more than camp cots, very uncomfortable. While the hotel was very nice otherwise, spotless rooms, good bath, location etc. I would look for somewhere else to stay next time primarily due to the beds, could not sleep, so not much enjoyment.

I had especially booked a room with twin beds because I was travelling with a friend, not my husband.
We were given a room with a double bed plus a small claustrophobic child's bed. We complained at the time but were told there was nothing else. This sspoiled our stay at the hotel.
