The staff makes you feel you have 'come home'. This was our fifth visit at Santa Chiara and the improvements to the breakfast area and Lobby were wonderful. ... Cleanest hotel we've ever seen. For many years we stayed at The Majestic but it became 'seedy'. then at the Hassler. Ran across Santa Chiara while walking and fell in love with it's charm and more personal atmosphere. ... Only one comment: we didn't want to leave! ... For guests who like to WALK while in Rome the location is ideal...especially for us because we visit the Pantheon every day. We enjoy the balcony of 410...and the beautiful travertine bath. Fredrica is amazing when arranging events or helping with 'directions'...a true asset. ... A guest is treated like royalty. The cleanest hotel we've ever seen. Sumptious breakfast, but lousy bar...no mixed drinks (One must walk over to the Minerva for cocktails). Amazingly reasonable cost considering the inflation we're experiencing.

Front area has a nice seating area while you are waiting for your room or meeting friends. Jon Sher ... We loved the location of the hotel and enjoyed coming back to our room after a hard day out on the streets of Rome. The breakfast was a nice touch. We would absolutely stay at this hotel again. Diane Sher ... You csn't go wrong with a stay at this hotel. Location is fabulous. The rooms/bathrooms are very nice. Breakfast is quite good and gets you off to a good start for your Roman adventure. Diane Sher

Unfortunately we were taken for a 'ride' at the train station when we arrived. You might warn tourists that the buses and taxi's are right outside the train station. However, our fault for not knowing. ... We enjoyed a wonderful stay at the Santa Chiara in Rome. We had the apartment with the patio and it was great. It is such a central location to so many of Rome's sites ie. Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Piazza Nuova, Vatican etc. ... Prompt courteous service. We requested the bill be divided by 5 and this was graciously accommodated! ... The great breakfast. We thought it would be just rolls, bread, and coffee/tea. What a surprise. ... Great hotel and location.

We were not aware the entry to hotel was closed to all auto traffic. We received a ticket that the clerk has attempted to void. This is problem since everyone wants to leave their luggaage. ... I have stayed at this property previously. I selected it because of location and price.

There was a miscommunication about the number of people (two instead of one)in the reservation. The staff did their best to accommodate this change and found a satisfactory solution. ... Although we checked out at 4:30 am for an early flight, the staff was on duty, helpful, and ready with the promised taxi to the airport that we had arranged with the front desk. ... The single area that we felt could use improvement was in the bar. On two (rainy) evenings, many guests gathered there, but it was nearly impossible to get a drink because the bartender had so many other responsibilities, and because he clearly had not been trained in serving from the bar. What should have been a relaxing and pleasant experience was instead frustrating and annoying. It seemed uncharacteristic of the service level of the Santa Chiara. ... Terrific location, first-class staff, pleasant common areas, good breakfast. The Santa Chiara has the cheerful, calm atmosphere of a well-run hotel--a good home away from home in Rome.

The staff behind the desk at the entrance did appear somewhat gloomy - a few more smiles from them wouldn't have hurt. But they were always gloomily helpful and gloomily polite!!!

Disappointed that the Bar was closed. Would have enjoyed an apperatif/nightcap in the nice lounge area. ... The hotel provided excellent airport transport on our departure, which turned out cheaper than our taxi on arrival. ... Could mention that the Bar is not always available(perhaps this is seasonable?) ... Fantastic location, we could walk everywhere from it, with plenty of cafes and resturants near by. Hotel was very clean and our twin room very comfortable and warm(we visited in January).

It happened to be extremely hot in Rome when we stayed (over 40o)and the air conditioning in the rooms is minimal at the best of times so we were somewhat uncomfortable during the night. Restaurant recommendations were good. The concierge seems to keep her own hours but the front desk was helpful in booking a tour of the Vatican. ... Not elegant but certainly adequate for our needs. A wonderful location!

Speedy, smooth and easy check-in. ... Quiet hotel convenient to many things. Easy walk to bus and sights. ... At 6 am, we were concerned about a quick check out and anxious that our taxi would be ready. Check out took 2 minutes and our car was waiting for an early ride to the airport. Appreciated the effort on their part. ... Staff is not only knowledgeable about the area, but also very friendly and helpful. They are there when you need them!

I was extremely satisfied and have recommended the Albergo Santa Chiara to others already. ... I don't remember reading about the large comfortable sitting room in the lobby. It was very useful for relaxing and for receiving visitors. ... It's great value for the money. The hotel is spotlessly clean, there are elevators (not a given in Rome), and my room was very comfortable. The staff is helpful. The breakfast buffet, which comes with the room, is generous. The location is prime. I will stay there again when I return to Rome.

On our return check-in 4/22 and our last night night prior to returning to the U.S. we were assigned a newly renovated room at our agreed rate. We greatly appreciated this gesture. ... The staff was extremely gracious. ... Please include the breakfast facilities and ample array of breakfast items. The hotel offers an airport taxi service at a fixed rate. ... The location is excellent and makes it possible to walk almost anywhere in historic Rome. The accomodations are most comfortable and extremely clean. The staff is attentive and gracious. Excellent experience at Albergo Santa Chiara. Will book room there again when in Rome. Certain stiffness and lack of politeness with some desk employees but all provided good service. ... Only problem was with certain desk employees who seemed not to want to be accomodating. However, they did ultimately provide the services we requested. ... Appreciated willingness to call taxi for airport. ... We wanted room facing piazza. Original room faced interior courtyard. Room was quiet but removed from the activity of the piazza. Might ask customers which type of room they prefer, quiet or opening onto piazza. ... Well appointed, clean, convenient to major sites in Rome. Excellent breakfast.

Location central to walking to all sights, 1/2 block from the Pantheon, great restaurants in the area, close to Piazza Navona. The Church across from the hotel, (another amazing one), has a Michelangelo statue 'Christ the Redeemer'in it ... so surprising ... and a Bernini statue in it's square (part of the hotel's logo). ... Our hotel was perfectly situated, beautifully decorated, great room overlooking courtyard and so important, air-conditioned! The continental breakfasts are amazing, meats & cheeses, h.b. eggs, toast & cereal, rolls, croissants & pastries, fresh fruits & yogurt. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Speedy, no problems. ... Fine experience. Rooms quiet and clean and spacious enough.Shower/bathroom clean and big enough for our needs. Receptionists readily ordered taxis for various sightseeing visits. No complaints. The location was ideal (virtually everywhere no more than 15 minutes walk from hotel, and stone's throw from Pantheon). ... More than expected due to the pound/Euro situation (paid 20% more than on the voucher, when euros converted into pounds). ... Expensive, but worth it. Unbeatable location. directions need some help. It was so hard to find, our taxi driver asked for directions. From the train station it is only about 10Euro, which was great! The air-conditioning was very welcome. ...
