 During your stay at Sam Rooms you will get to know Piazza San Giovanni as if it were your own neighbourhood back home: not only because you will take the metro at this stop, but also due to the beautiful constructions in it, San Giovanni in Laterano cathedral, the obelisk and the bell-towers made in Romanesque style, for instance. San Giovanni in Laterano was the first cathedral in Rome and this is why it is considered the "mother" of all the other temples in the Eternal City: the original property belonged to the Lateranis family, but later on it was confiscated and a church was built there, originally as Basilica of the Saviour. |
