Wonderful staff greeted us warmly, took care of our luggage and even gave us maps and tour information of Rome. ... Our room was spotless. It was large and very adequate for our family of five. Hotel Madrid was exactly what we were looking for - a charming hotel located on a quiet street but within walking distance to shopping, restaurants and historical sites such as the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps. ... They are in the middle of renovations and adding additional accomodations. Our room must have been recently renovated as it was just beautiful.
Much more than a continental breakfast was offered - several types of meats, breads and pastries, hard boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, cereals, juices, fresh fruits, great coffee. ... Quaint, comfortable, friendly hotel hidden on a quiet street yet within walking distance of the hustle and bustle of Rome.

Excellent room, service, helpfulness,cordiality.
No doubt all these amenities were increased because of the off season stay.
I could find no fault with Madrid and staff. I look forward to returning there
Fr John B. Giuliani ... My room was an inner room and as quiet as a monastery. Spacious. The bathroom is execellent. I felt luxury at ordinary prices ... Arrainging a cab to the airport for less the going cost. A superb driver ... The off season benefits ... Simply: Stay at the Madrid! No better find for your money and expectation
(I've been to Rome over a dozen times)

We took a chance and selected this hotel only by the internet description - It was even better than we had hoped. The staff was terrific - friendly, helpful, polite and knowledgeable about Rome. Breakfast on the roof terrace was lovely and our rooms were perfect. Five of us stayed in a suite and were quite comfortable. Oh, and the bathroom was quite large and modern. Most important however was the location! We were within easy walking distance of everything. Although we were right by the Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps, we were on a side street so it was quiet as well. We will definately stay here again! ... Highly recommend. Lovely hotel with a great staff and in a perfect location. Relatively inexpensive for the area as well

A wonderful Hotel with an excellent location. Very easy walk to all of the major sites. The roof top breakfast room is very enjoyable in the morning with a nice selection of foods. The staff is quite pleasant and extremely helpful with any questions or issues you might have.

very swift and efficient check in. Room was ready for our arrival.
There was a member of staff to help with the luggage which was appreciated after our journey. ... The room was basic but spotlessly clean and the bathroom was beautiful and a large size for a city hotel.
The breakfasts were well worth getting up for.The buffett style breakfast was freshly prepared and the choice was good.
The coffee was excellent but there was also a varied choice of teas. it was served in a lovely little roof top terrace which was peaceful and had lovely views over Rome and st Peters. ... The hotel staff had organised our taxi to the airport which arrived promptly and charged the going rate 40 euros.
The bill was ready for checkout and the price to pay was the price quoted on request. ... The hotel was located on a quiet side street yet minutes from the Via del Corso and Spanish steps and Trevi Fountain.
It was a small city hotel but as good as any larger 5 star hotels I have stayed in. it also felt very safe which was a big plus for any city stay. ... A well situated bed & breakfast city hotel that more than met the needs of a short city break. The rooms were clean and the bathroom excellent.( shower very good)
The breaksfasts were as good as any in a 5 star hotel and served in a lovely Italian rooftop terrace.
The hotel was so convienent that I dont think i would want to stay anywhere else when visiting Rome

Staff were extremely helpful in checking us in and getting us settled into our rooms. The accomodations were larger than expected. ... Accomodations and service were outstanding. I would not hesitate to recommend this Hotel to other travellers, or to return myself. ... Staff were very helpful in preparing us for departure and in getting us out of town prior to the start of a National Transportation strike the morning of our departure. ... The location could not be better. ... A good value in a great location with a helpful staff.

We were very happy with Hotel Madrid! After staying in Venice at nearly four times the price, we didn't expect much of the Hotel Madrid, but were very pleased. The location is perfect. The rooms were very clean, brand new, and quiet, and the price was great. We had what I would call a mini suite. It included one room with two daybeds and a built in desk, a second room with a kingsize bed, and a large, spacious bathroom. Each room had a nice window with double shutters for noise/light control. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. We'll definitely stay at Hotel Madrid again. ... See comments above (question 10).

Hotel Madrid arranged for a transfer from the seaport in Civitavecchia. The driver was courteous and professional. Our room was ready for us when we arrived. ... Hotel Madrid was in an ideal location. The staff was attentive and courteous. The tour company they recommended was professional and well worth the price. The roof garden restaurant was a beautiful place to relax and enjoy a delicious breakfast before a busy day of touring Rome. I highly recommend Hotel Madrid to anyone! ... Hotel Madrid was perfect for its location, comfort, security, and staff courtesy and attentiveness.

Very welcoming and efficient, and provided maps and an orientation of where the hotel was situated in respect to the major tourist sites. ... For people interested in shopping, as we were, and as I am sure a lot of people who travel to Rome are, this hotel offers the perfect location. ... Excellent location, good price, friendly, helpful staff and I would definitely recommend it! I plan to use the hotel again for my next trip to Rome.

I cannot comment on the directions because we had arranged for a driver to bring us to the hotel, but he had no problem finding it.
We arrived very early in the am and our room wasn't ready. The hotel staff was very accomodating and provided us with facilities to 'freshen up' until our room was ready. We went for a short walk and upon our return we were shown to our room and to our surprise, our bags had already been delivered to our room. ... We were very pleased with the accomodations and the breakfast. The room was very spacious for a family of five. However, we were most impressed with the staff. They were most helpful and entertaining.
Of all the hotels we stayed in Italy, this hotel had the most accomodating and friendly reception staff which was very welcoming to a family traveling with young kids in a foreign country. I'm glad that Rome was our first stop. ... I don't recall what was on the website. We basically used the hotel to sleep and to eat breakfast. Both were provided. ... The Hotel Madrid is very conveniently located near the Spanish Steps and within walking distance to most of the sights in Rome. There is great shopping and restaurants very close by. It is a European style B&B and the breakfast - in a charming glass enclosed veranda with a great view - was wonderful. The hotel staff is most helpful and eager to make your stay enjoyable and memorable. I would highly recommend staying at Hotel Madrid when visiting Rome.

There is no bellhop service. Breakfast was truly what Americans call 'continental' with little more than juice, pastries, and cereal. ... Perfect location. Walked everywhere! Metro stop close. A bit noisy at night, but that was part of the 'Roman' charm. Tons of great places to eat around the hotel.
Rooms modest but comfortable. Shower & tub combos a bit small. Nicely appointed. Housekeeping always had room impeccably neat after every day of site-seeing.

We had a wonderful stay at the Hotel Madrid. Our only complaint was that the breakfast room hostess seemed, well, hostile towards us (for reasons that are unclear). That said, we'd defintley return. Very helpful and friendly staff. Clean room. Breakfast could have a bit more variety (hot food?) but otherwise good. ... Very nice, excellent location but you do pay a premium for that location. Elsewhere for the same cost you would get a more upmarket hotel. However, I'd be happy to go back there.

The hotel is in a gret locaation overall and the room was clean, sleek, and comfortable. The set-up with a split sitting/twin bed area and a separate adjoining queen bed room worked great for our family of four. The breakfasts were very nice - great views from the patio, good food variety, and wonderful, genial service. Our only beef was that even on the third floor we got a lot of late night noise from a club next door. If you are a light sleeper you might wish to request a room high up and not facing the street. (Oops - I just realized I put this in the wrong place. Please put this under the Our Stay section below.) ... See comment under #5 above. ... The front desk attendant was extremely helpful getting us a taxi quicker than would normally be available. ... It would be helpful to note that, while on a quiet street relative to its location close to the Spanish Steps, the adjacent club creates a good bit of late night noise if you are in rooms facing the street. ... Clean, comfortable, friendly, accomodating, solid value. A bit noisy late night if facing the street - ask for a room high up and off the street - but this was a reasonable tradeoff for the great location.

People were very friendly and helpful, obviously anxious to make our stay a pleasant one. ... Small hotel, but surprisingly delightful, lovely room, comfortable bed, bathroom with lovely modern conveniences and appearance. Raised small shower was a smidge awkward getting in and out. Tiny balcony supplied only opening to a smallpatch of sky, but we understand that the old buildings in Rome create unique challenges for renovations. Air from air conditioner provided quiet air circulation, included in cost. ... On a small alleyway, a bit difficult for taxi to get to becuase of one-way access and streets closed to traffic.
Still,it was a nice surprise and made more so by the friendliness of the staff.

60 euros for a taxi from Ciampino airport, arranged by the hotel staff. Not the best start. I arranged my own taxi back at a cost of 25 euros!!! ... Very poor value for money. Before we could request, a porter assisted us with the luggage and was very helpful. ... The room for 3 of us was very comfortable. The attached bath was bright and clean. We were very satisfied with Hotel Madrid. It was also in a good location and easily accessible by foot to many shopping areas and eateries. The only problem we had was that it was rather noisy outside the hotel during the nights, which could be heard clearly at our room. Can be disturbing for light sleepers. ... The breakfast buffet that was included in the package, was simple but good enough. We absolutely like the rooftop breakfast dining area which resembles a glass house. Very cosy. ... We will recommend to our friends, no doubt. Good location, comfortable room and bath. Love the breakfast area. Helpful and polite staff.

The room was very clean, spacious, quiet, and private. However, the sheets were not changed after our first night. They were changed after our second night. I am accustomed to the North American system where the sheets are changed daily.
The bowl of fruit was a very welcome, charming touch. ... I would be happy to stay at Hotel Madrid again, and would recommend it to family and friends. ...
