A friendly hostess will give you tips and informations about Rocca di Papa and Roman Castles. La Locanda dei Castelli is located in the heart of Rocca di Papa, which is the most panoramic town of the area, in fact it is considered "a terrace on the Eternal City". In summer time you will enjoy the fresh atmosphere, especially after a day spent visiting places; in winter time you will anjoy the cool romantic atmosphere and maybe you will prefer to stay at "home" and wath the Eternal City from its terrace. The best way to visit the area is by car. You can easily visit the surroundings. In about 15 minutes you can reach many important places, such as Frascati, where you can visit the Tuscolan Villas and do some shopping; Castel Gandolfo, where you can see the Pop's summer residence overlooking the beautifull Albano lake; Nemi, where you can eat sweet strawberries walking in its nice little alleys. Other important places are: the Palazzo Chigi of Ariccia, the Roman Boats Museum of Nemi lake, the romantic Sforza-Cesarini Park of Genzano, the wonderfull nature of the Natural Park of Roman Castles. The Roman Castles area is also famous and wolrd by appreciated for its wines and traditional cuisine; you can't miss to eat a sandwich with the famous "porchetta" (pork) of Ariccia and the famous bread of Genzano or a plate of "fettuccine" with "porcini" mushrooms and many other plates. Or you can buy your own food and eat it at the famous "fraschetta", where you will order some wine with delicious biscuits. If you will think you have seen enough and you still have time, you can reach the center of Rome in about one hour, by taking a bus from the center of Rocca di Papa to Anagnina and then the subway "A" to the center (Tremini Station, Piazza di Spagna, St Peter).Rocca di Papa is located in the Regional Park of The Roman Castles. You will enjoy walking through the Bavarian quarter and old city centre alleys, admiring the panoramic views on Rome and the Tuscolo hills, visiting the little churches and the geophysical museum, or walking up to the top of the Cavo mountain where you will discover the ancient path of Via Sacra (ancient Roman road) and admire the view on both the lakes of Albano and Nemi; in the evening you will satisfy your palates in the numerous restaurants which offer Roman ethnic food together with the famous castles wines. The area of the Roman Castles offers many possibilities of relaxation, from the enogastronomic journeys, to the art of the Tuscolan Villas Of Frascati, to the walks along panoramic paths, to the relaxation on the banks of the lakes Albano and Nemi. |
