My husband and I and 4 boys just got back from 7 cities in Europe. By far the Hotel Lancelot was the best hotel we stayed in. We wish we had stayed longer. The room on the top floor (#60, the older kids were in room #24) was beautiful, roomy, clean and had a glorious garden terrace view of the city. The front desk recommended a local resturant Luzzi around the corner and it was lively, fun and had great food. I would highly recommend it! - The Cleverly's, Scottsdale, Arizona ... see above

We called ahead to ask if we could drop off our bags before check in. The front desk offered that we could check in early. This much appreciated favor and allowed us the opportunity to get refreshed after an overnight train ride. ... Two minute walk to the Colleseum, but absolutely in a safe, and very quiet, neighborhood.
The dining room offered a very nice breakfast and excellent dinners. Best dinner we had in Rome. Excellent value and well prepared. ... I think the hotel should provide more details on the evening meal they provide. I didn't know that it was available until I checked in. ... Very nice owner. Excellent facilities. Probably won't go to Rome again, but if I do I will certainly stay at the Hotel Lancelot in order to make the trip enjoyable.

You seem to have put all of the features onthe web site but it is difficult for you to really express how welcoming the staff were and the homely atmosphere particularly when dining at the large tables with other guests. ... Itwas very prompt, efficient and informative ... The hotel was recommended to us by a family member and we have also recommended it to others.
The staff were always friendly, helpful and spoke whatever language was necessary!

This was the perfect hotel for my stay. They were so welcoming and helpful. At the last minute, I asked for them to arrange an airport pickup, and they did it to perfection. ... I could buy bus tickets there, which was very helpful. One night I ate out, and they reimbursed me for the meal. I did not even have to request it, but they did it. I will definitely return! ... Stay was value for money. Only small discussion was that I had requested the night before to organize a taxi to Termini to catch the airport train, because it was very early.I was told it could be done just before. As it turned out, I almost didn't make that designated train, and if I hadn't, I would have most likely missed my flight, as the aiport was very busy. ... The location was terrific, and that was not too obvious on the site. It was close to the Colosseum, which meant easy access to buslines, etc (one goes right to the Vatican), yet it was in a wonderful, quiet neighborhood. It was a great experience. Also, the round tables were the reason I went here, as I was traveling alone. That was very special. ... Terrific location, wonderful staff, great experience on meeting other travelers. Rooms were correct. It made traveling in Rome solo really easy and fun.It was comforting coming 'home' at night. The sitting rooms were actually the first 'public areas' in a hotel that actually invited you to sit there.

There are two types of balcony's at the hotel. A photo of them from the various rooms would help the guest make a decision as to which one might be better to their liking. Ours was on the top floor and great. There are smaller ones from lower rooms that would be just as nice and maybe 10 euro's or so less expensive. An option to help the guest make a decision. ... Great location. Great neighborhood to be in. Small shops, Cafes, Wine Bars, nice local people and away from tourist buses and crowds.

Ensured our room was ready by 10.00a.m. rather than the stated afternoon check-in. The staff went out of their way to make us welcome.
... It was a pleasure to stay at the Lancelot. Staff were always extremely helpful.
Only suggestion is that rooms should contain a refrigerator. ... Very smooth and easy - no surprises. ... Please not that the rooms do not contain a refrigerator. ... The only thing that could have made it better was if we had asked the hotel to arrange airport transportation for our arrival. The hotel arranged the departure and it was very convenient and the price was reasonable. ... The Internet access was nice and speedy. Consider making it free. The rooms were a bit noisy. We could hear alot of hallway traffic and one night we could hear the television from the next room. ... We had a little confusion with the check out, but it did not diminish our experience at The Hotel Lancelot. The reception staff had booked a tour to Florence for us, however the cost appeared on both room charges. The Landry cost (Room 226?) was also on the Williams bill (Room 224). ... I don't remember seeing the terraced rooms on the Web site. They may be there, but I don't remember seeing them. The cafe lattes from the bar were execptional. While we didn't dine at the hotel, the aroma was quite nice. Also, the security of the gated entry provided a level of comfort (especially when traveling with minors). ... The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The neighborhood was quiet and convenient ... while the location was not in the central touristy location, it was easy to find and easy to walk or metro to other areas. The Coliseum provided a great landmark reference, and once you found the hotel, there's no chance you could get lost. The area restraunts and cafes were a great.

I was amazed at the value for money the hotel represented. I researched my visit at great length before I went and none of the other hotels offered anywhere near the quality of service and facilities at the Lancelot for the money. The location was perfect too. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to other visitors to Rome. ... A wonderful quiet location close to the major attractions of Rome with marvellous views of the Colosseum from the roof terrace. Friendly and helpful staff. Efficient service. Outstanding value for money. The furnishings and facilities were closer to a 4* than a 3* hotel. Superb food and varied menu. The round tables in the restaurant provide great opportunity for good conversation with other guests. The hotel shuttle from the airport, 15 Euro per person, took us directly to the hotel door. It was a pleasure to arrive here after our trip. The only thing that was not as expected was that we had no crib in our room for our child, but they put it in there right away. I had requested two rooms close together, and they were almost next to each other. The receptionist (who was the owner's daughter) was both pleasant and helpful, giving me information about the neighborhood and telling me the best place to get a train ticket for Florence. ... The rooms here are lovely and a good bargain for Rome. The Colliseum and Forum are right up the street and we found it easy to walk to other sights like the Trevi Fountain as well. In addition, we found it very easy to take the bus to the Vatican and the tram to Trastavere, and they sell tickets at the reception desk.
The hotel is beautitfully decorated, immaculate, and quiet. We had nice rooms, the common areas are pleasant, and there is a nice bar and a lovely outdoor garden. Breakfast is large and delicious. Dinner (we paid to eat here one night) was also very good. There are also some good places to eat in the neighborhood and the staff was helpful with recommendations. ... Check out was fine. ... This is an extremely family friendly hotel. We stayed here with an 18 month old child and were never made to feel anything but welcome. All of the staff made him and us feel right at home.
The quality of the breakfast is the best I have ever seen in a European hotel, and it was varied from day to day. ... One of the nicer hotels I have ever stayed in and the place I would always stay in Rome.

After dealing with a terrible cab ride in from the airport (driver doubled fare and there was a heated argument about this) the staff at the front desk were very understanding and apologetic for something they had no control over. They 'soothed' the tired and 'frazzled' nerves! ... All staff were very friendly and helpful. More than willing to telephone for any bookings, reservations etc. Our room overlooked the street and was a very lovely room but the noise of the traffic (even during the night) disturbed us. We were fortunate to be able to close the window and put on the air conditioning but it would have been nice to leave the window open. I think the strength of the Hotel was the ecclectic collection of ornaments, furnishings etc.that made up the interior decoration of the property.
