Excellent hotel in a wonderful location in Rome near the Pantheon with great view of it from our room. We would definitely stay there again and will recommend the Abruzzi to our family and friends when they visit Rome.

I had booked a taxi to drive me from Ciampino, and when I was on my way the hotel receptionist rang the driver to make sure I was on board. A member of the hotel's staff carried my suitcase up to the room. The welcome was enthusiastic and genuine. ... The room, although a double for single use, was quite small. The walls were fairly thick, but there was a lot of noise from the corridor, which started early. But none of this mattered when balanced against the magnificence of the view of the Pantheon. I could have spent the week leaning out of the high window and watching the goings on in the square and taking in the beauty of the building. Having breakfast in the square, at the Café De Rienzo, was a bonus. ... Again, I booked a taxi, and this was waiting for me at the agreed time. I was grateful that someone had warned me that I needed to pay in cash, and I had checked with reception that this was so. This was a nuisance, as I had to collect small amounts of money on a daily basis. ... The staff were unfailingly friendly and the atmosphere is pleasant. Only negative, for me, was the pervasive smell of cigarette smoke. ... Perfectly situated, old fashioned and idiosyncratic hotel, with very friendly staff and a magnificent view.

We liked the hotel very much. The location was wonderful, the staff was very helpful, and the bed was comfortable. ... Great location and friendly staff. A bit pricey for small room, but worth it to be so centrally located.

No-one warned us that the elctricity only works when you stick a metal prong on the key ring into a hole, so we were very bewildered. Also. we didn't notice the heating until day 3 of our stay, having assumed that there wasn't any (and become very cold!) ... The breakfast was delicious but the waiter was so surly that our 15-year-old daughter became convinced that Italians hated all tourists. ... Small, clean, comfortable beds, good showers, excellent breakfasts, fantastic view of Pantheon, brilliant location, best value for central old Rome, pleasant staff, no frills - but who cares- and a bit noisy at night outside the windows(but, again, not a problem - it's a great location for atmosphere)

courteous. ... 3 of the front desk personnel were extremely helfpul, and one was a bit dour. 3 of the 4 spoke english, though we also tried to speak some italian (which helped). Rooms are cramped but suffice - - if you're staying at the hotel for the rooms, you're at the wrong place! Basically you stay here for the great location only. ... They seem to have a problem with wake up calls as we didn't get ours, and 2 other people we talked to didn't get theirs either. 1 gentleman didn't get it for 2 days in a row, which more than likely caused him to miss his flight upon checkout. ... You're paying for location. It's the perfect location in Rome, as long as you don't mind cramped quarters.

Perfect non-tourity auberge with welcoming, english-fluent staff, eager to assist. manager helped us find a driver to our next destination at a very favorable rate, and the driver was excellent. the piazza is a delight, central location, allowing one to feel as if he were a roman in rome. delightful experience in all aspects. have stayed at larger hotels and been disappointed, this place is a delight. i almost don't want to recommend for fear it will not be available the next time i come to rome!

We highly recommend the Hotel Abruzzi. The characteristics of the hotel as described online were accurate, and my choice of rooms was honoured. The hotel staff were 100% - made our trip to Rome all the more enjoyable and they were very helpful too. Would definitely recommend the hotel, and booking it via your website too. No problems at all. ... see above. ... ideal location for major touring sights in Rome. We felt we saved money on cabs and transportation due to the excellent location of the hotel. ... Charming and historical inn, right in the center of a very historical piazza in Rome. Staying so close to a major monument was very enjoyable - kind of like making it your own neighbourhood for a few days. i loved watching the locals go about their daily activiites in the midst of such an historical location - imagine living right around the corner from teh Pantheon!!! The breakfasts on the piazza were very enjoyable too - you can enjoy the fountain adn the view of the pantheon without a million tourists before the day begins!~

This is my 4th or 5th stay at Abruzzi. I don't know if I got the info other than go on the web initially but loved staying there. It is exactly what i wanted in a non-corporate hotel that is clean, quaint and centrally located. One day i will own a hotel very similar. thank you. chris ... Just a bit more than previos stay but that is expected as prices of everthing go up! ... a non-corporate hotel that is clean, quaint and centrally located.

Because of the destination we took a taxi which was a rip off as we did the same journey several times by taxi after the first occasion at a quarter of the price. It would be good to advise travellers that this journey rome termini to hotel should not be more than 10 Euros. ... The procedure was very quick ... Whilst we had breakfast included in the price it was not served in the hotel so although we worked this out we did see other guests going back to their rooms to get jumpers as it was usually cold first thing at this time of the year. ... I would recommend this hotel, and stay again if guaranteed room 204 with its view of the Pantheon. It is central for Vatican, Forum and other places of interest on foot, close to the riverside walk which could do with some renovation and there are a number of excellent restaurants in the vicinity.

Our stay at Hotel Abruzzi was wonderful--Accommodations included a much appreciated 'tub'--the cleaning service was spectacular-Hotel receptionist was,at times, abrupt-but otherwise helpful!! The view and location were spectacular!!! I would definately recommend this Hotel--thank you for helping to make my first trip to Rome--enjoyable and memorable!!
Carole ... See Above ... I do think that the reception desk should be able to make change--not from one currency to another but asking for change from a $20.00 Euro for four $5.00 Euro was not possible. ... See Above ... See Above

Breakfast was not very good. The selection was limited to a roll and a crossaint. Better choices would have been appreciated and from my experience in other Italy hotels breakfast at Abruzzi was not very good. ... Excellent location, good value

i was goven a front room which was spacious and noisey. I asked for a quiet room and was given one which was dark and small with no reduction in the rate ... warnings about noise - despite double glazing
wanrings that rooms at the back are dark small and are charged at the same rate as ones at the front ...
excellent position - basic hotel - not 3 stars - maybe 2

The shower head was broken and the toilet seat was not latched to the toilet and kept slipping. ... A perfect location that is centrally located. It's within a 15 minutes walk to the Forum and Vatican. The narrow stairs wind up, so if you have lots of luggage you're going to get lots of exercise.

The pricing of this hotel is in our opinion too high. The rooms are very small and there are no facilities at the hotel - except for a reading room.
... As above the pricing of this hotel is too high ... Good but too expensive for what it is..

The day clerk was very helpful. We had about 5 different clerks that we saw during our stay. Only 1 of the 5 was very friendly. 2 were downright rude. ... The walls are paper thin. Got NO sleep as a result - you can hear EVERYthing going on in the room next to you. Desk claimed 'phone didn't work' - but I suspect the clerks were too lazy to take the time to explain the workings. However- either way the phones didn't work. Room was clean - great view - and decent size. ... Helpful in calling taxi services. ... Location is what makes this hotel worth it's price. It's in a great location. HOwever, if you value your sleep at all, need phone services, or like to be treated respectably - this is not the hotel for you. ... If you want to stay central to all the tourist activities - stay here. If you don't mind walking or using public transportation - stay somewhere else.

Of the 4 or 5 people at the front desk, only one of them was particularly polite and helpful. He was the one that eventually got the air conditioning in our room fixed after complaining for 3 days. The others at the front desk could have cared less about us. ... The rooms are particularly small, which is something I had not totally expected since having just come from Florence, where the rooms were larger than expected. However, the room was clean and it looked at over the Pantheon, which was quite a view. The worst thing about the hotel was that our air conditioning was not working. When I complained at least once a day about it, the men at the front desk could have cared less. They said the air conditioning was working and that was that way it was. Only one person working at the front desk, whom I had complained to twice about the air conditioning, finally realized that they needed to call the company to come out and fix it. By our last night, it was finally working. So for the previous nights, we had to leave the window open and with all the noise from outside, it was nearly impossible to sleep. I will never stay there again and recommend to others to find some other hotel in the area of the Pantheon to stay. You may pay more, but you will probably get more for your money The breakfast was meager, just a piece of bread and a sweetroll at a restaurant across from the hotel. The cost for such a breakfast is 8 euros. I would recommend spending a little more at another hotel and getting a more substantial breakfast. ... Checkout was fine, although the person at the front desk didn't seem to know what he was doing. Perhaps he was new. ... Be aware of the distinct possibility that the air conditioning will not be working properly. You will need to constantly complain to the front desk in order to eventually get it fixed. ... A lousy hotel that is not worth the price. It is conveniently located in the heart of the city, however.

We were greeted very cordially. ... Rooms were very small, however, I believe this is the case in most of Europe. You can tell the Hotel has been recently remodeled, it is very clean and well appointed, and has air conditioning, a plus during the heat wave. ... Because of the Hotel location, there are no taxis available near by. The concierge directed us to a bus stop a few blocks away, since he could not arrange for a taxi. We were lucky and hailed one from the street. ... A fantastic location, with the best view in Rome, the Pantheon!

Location excellent. Hotel was clean adn comfortable with well stocked minibar which helped to compensate for the lack of eating / drinking facilities (i.e. restaurant / bar). ... I think that it should be stated clearly that there are no restaurant or bar facilities. The voucher system for breakfast was fine but unexpected. ... I have a friend who is quite overweight. I explained that the hotel is in a great location but also that it would probably not be suitable as the bathrooms and the shower cubicle in particular are tight for space.
