We stayed at Duca d' Alba two times, a week apart. The first was Nov 28-29, 2006. The second time we arrived, on Dec 4, 2006, our money and credit cards and debit card had just been stolen in the metro. The hotel staff was extremely helpful and kind, supplying phone numbers and providing advice, and altering their normal procedure of having guests pay on check out, allowing us to pre-pay with a second copy of the credit card we were about to cancel. ... We stayed in this hotel twice a week apart in Dec 2006. We had previously stayed there in 2001, Bith times the experience was very positive, a reasonable but elegant oasis in a busy city. I would stay there again. Its location is perfect. Walk (5-10 minutes) from the train station though, you don't need to brave the metro for such a short ride. ... Very gracious, very helpful. The hotel staff arranged a taxi ahead of time that was waiting for us when we were ready. ... Our rooms were small but extremely clean, reasonably quiet, with elegant bathrooms. The staff all speak enough English to be very accommodating. There

Everything went very smoothly, we felt quite comfortable with the arrival experience. ... The staff were always polite and helpful in any requests. ... We found the location to be quite good; close to Termini train station, the metro, loads of restaurants nearby and easy walking to any central Rome site. ... We would describe - and have - the Duca d'Alba as an excellent hotel, room and bathroom quite nice; breakfast very good and a very good location. We really enjoyed our stay.

Website stated you could only check in after 6pm - we arrived at 12 noon and were taken to our room immediately. ... Would be good if they had an iron and ironing board that you could borrow. ... Ideally situated to access the metro, but also within easy walking distance of the Colesseum ... Lovely hotel in the historic centre of Rome with easy access to all tourist attractions.

The Duca D'Alba is located in a fun area and is close to historic sites. A metro station (Cavorre?) is just 200m away as one heads straight out the lobby. An Irish pub is just across the scenic and narrow cobbled street.
My room was in the section off via leonina, with a cool staircase. Got to use older keys, but that made the feel of the Hotel so much funner and appropriate to the age of the City!!
We ate at a restaurant a few doors down that was tasty and pleasant.
I enjoyed my stay there and felt very comfortable. I would definitely stay there again. ... I loved my room decoration and bathroom. The hot water was sometimes hot, then warm, then hot... But it was fine. ... It was efficient and quick but with friendly conversation. ... no. ... It has the flavor of age with modern amenities and a very cool location and feel. The metro close by with easy access to the trains.

The mini bar in the room was handy in the hot weather, there was a plentiful supply of cold drinks, however, it would have been helpful if a pricelist was made available to prepare you for the additional costs. The same applies to the bedroom telephone. ... Breakfast is superb. ... Hotel Duca d'Alba has an excellent location near the historic centre of Rome, situated in a quiet side street and close to a metro station. Breakfast is very good, rooms are cleaned every day and the staff are polite and very helpful. Having a good base certainly enhanced the enjoyment of our holiday in Rome.

Very friendly, helpful with walking directions and other general information. ... The window opening to receive fresh air was very narrow to open. The room was stuffy. Air conditioning was not operational to circulate fresh air. ... Check out was very fast and professional. Got a taxi to the train station and made my airport connection. ... Good Roma location, very near subway station. A point that should be enhanced. ... A nice hotel, very good location with a very good hardy brekfast and helpful staff. Yes, I would stay at this hotel again. Easy to get to major points of interest around Roma.

We are pleased to say that your staff were very attentive to all ones needs. The breakfast was excellent, with a choice of food to suit every individual taste. The Bedroom had been thoroughly cleaned, as had been the bathroom. ... The only critiscism we have, which is one in common with many hotels, was that the bed if marked for comfort from 1 - 10 (Soft to Hard) got 9.5. If entered into a competition, it would probably have won an award by those needing orthopeadic treatment. Regretably neither my wife and I suffer from bad backs, and tossed and turned for most of the night in the fruitless attempt to gain comfort. As a result, we had the next morning,to spend sometime trying to get the circulation back into our right arms. Our thanks for your Interest. ... Luggage stored until required. Very efficient, with the taxi called as requested. ... Beds are Ideal for sufferers with Bad Backs!!!! ... All bar the bed, Very good standard.

A very pleasant hotel, everything was nice and clean, the breakfast was very good, the staff spoke english and was very helpful. If/when we go to Rome again we would like to stay at Hotel Duca d'Alba. It was very convenient to everything we wanted to see. We don't like big hotels, so this was just for us. Regards Irene and Anders Kristensen ... see my coment above ... just I have said in my first coment, have already recommended the hotel to friends

Friendly and welcoming. ... The breakfast was better than expected: Massive amounts of eggs and bacon (both slightly undercooked by American standards), and the coffee was amazing. The staff was helpful, friendly, and multilingual. ... I thought we were only paying so much for the location(four minute walk to the Colloseum), but this place has it all. I would definitely return to Duca d'Alba. I would also tell friend to pronounce it correctly, not 'Duca d Alba,' but more like 'duca dalba.' Is that cavilling? Ciao.

This is a small but yet extremely charming hotel located in the heart of Rome. We had a room with a terrace on the top floor of the hotel which was wonderful. Also, the staff was fantastic. Overall, our experience in this hotel was better than expected.

We found the hotel personnel extrememly pleasant, helpful, and most accomodating. THey helped us several times with restaurant and Borghese Gallery reservations. Highly recommend the hotel and am glad to serve as a reference. I also enjoyed the area of the city and the fact that it was steps away from the Metro Cavour station. Thanks. ... Breakfast was very satisfying. Evarything ran on time. ... Staff had arranged for a taxi to the airport, and it was punctual. ... Very comfortable, accomodating hotel with extraordinarily pleasant staff. Excellent location and surrounded by good restaurants and shopping as well as sightseeing. Soundproof rooms; delicious breakfast.

This was a wonderful property! Well located, very clean, excellent inclusive breakfast, personnel exceptional - extremely helpful, friendly, concerned - the best service I have had in quite a while. Many properties should take a lesson from this hotel. I would highly recommend this property and would definitely stay there when travelling to Rome. The employees were fantastic. ... In addition to my comments above, the staff could not have been more helpful as to suggestions for restaurants, mapping out directions to various sights, and seeming to take an individual concern with each patron. ... Easy, competent, efficient. ... I think that you have done a wonderful job with the web site information. You should definitely share the comments with the hotel. They need to know what a fantastic job they are doing. ... A Roman gem!

We arrived by taxi from the airport, so directions were not needed. Someone met us there with our name on a sign which was very nice, especially since our flight was an hour late. ... We loved the location, and when the windows in room were closed it really was soundproof. ... The only negative is our 'double' bed was 2 twins pushed together, but it was that way at all 4 hotels we stayed at. They could have all used a mattress topper so the valley in between was less noticeable. ... Great location, a short walk to many sites, clean.

We found the reception to be excellent, staff polite and extremely helpful. We were very pleased. ... We enjoyed our stay very much and found the hotel to be in an excellent location. The breakfast was the best we had during our two week stay in Italy. ... We were able to store our bags during the last day which allowed us to move around much more easily. ... The fact that the location is not on a busy traffic street. ... I would describe it as a boutique hotel with good services, friendly staff, and very well maintained.

My only complaint is that the bathtub leaked -- a lot! But that was a minor annoyance in an otherwise perfect stay. ... Beautiful room, beautiful hotel within walking distance of almost all of Rome's highlights. Very friendly staff, good breakfast, and lovely large room/bathroom. Wonderful atmosphere, wonderful location.

I just have to mention, that the double bed was devided, that means with space between the two and it was on rolls, so that every movement by us had the effect of moving the whole bed. Maybe this is of interest for you.

Staff was very helpful and friendly ... The hotel was a great location down a quaint alley lined with wonderful restaurants. It was well situated to see all of Rome and seemed to be right in the middle of things. The staff was very friendly and helpful, even reminding my husband that he couldn't wear shorts to the Vatican. The breakfast was first rate. The rooms were not luxurious, but were clean.

Rooms were small and we thought we were going to have a true double bed but ended up with 2 single beds pushed together.
