Staff are very friendly and accommodating, as well as helfpul and interested in guests. ... The breakfast area is beautiful, a veranda with waterfall and trellised honeysuckle. Food very good. ... The high quality of the breakfast, friendliness of staff, and beauty of the outdoor sitting area. ... Hotel Donatello is convenienty located on Porto Maggiore and is a lovely hotel. The staff, Mr. Prete and the others, are quite friendly. Food is good and price is reasonable given the location.

We asked for the Hotel to arrange a car to pick us up from the airport which they duly did. He got us there safe and sound and very fast! He was waiting for us as we came out so we had no hanging about, which was great as we had our parents with us. ... We enjoyed our stay here very much. The Hotel is undergoing lots of renovating so it was little noisy and dusty from the workmen. Also the bar area was not open due to this. The staff and owners were very helpful and polite. We have no doubt that this Hotel will be great once it has been completed and this did not affect our enjoyment of the place.
We would have no problem recommending this Hotel to any one. ... We were leaving early on the morning of our Departure so we settled our bill the night before which presented no problems.
Breakfast was availabe to us and they arranged for the car and driver to be there to collect us. All in all no problems at all.. ... It is difficult to say anything bad or good that you should include as it is not yet completed. But i feel sure that the end result will be better as they are also working on a Patio area which will be nice and they are putting lifts in which are esential.. No lifts at present which would be difficult for some people. ... I would tell them exactly what i have described to you above..and maybe advise them to wait for completion to get full benefits of this lovely family run Hotel.

Super polite and gracious and made us feel very welcome. ... We stayed in two different rooms. The first two nights room it was clean and simple, but nothing special. But the third nights stay the room was much nicer. Perhaps they are remodeling and we got a newer and older room for the differnet stays? ... That continental breakfast means something different for travelers used to more substantial meals in the northern cities of Europe. And this perhaps is the problem of the tourism industry, as when we stayed in Florence at another Hotel, they'd also stated it was continetal, but it was a continental buffet, though the did not say buffet at all. And naturally, one gets more for a meal in what is considered continental in northern cities. Although I knew this, I still hoped for more, but not the fault of the hotelier. ... Very nice, pretty, lots of marble, a place you want to be respectful and quiet in. Some rooms might be nicer than others, although I do not know of the reason for the variation from plain and simple to nicer digs, as the price was the same for me. The owners are super nice and go out of their way to accommodate you if you ask, like for advice or anything of the sort. Neighborhood seems seedy looking due to all of the graffiti, but we had no trouble and in fact the tram and bus line runs right past the hotel, so arriving from Termini train station is easy, no need to get a taxi if you are not under any disability or constraints.

It was a real pleasure to be greeted personally -- we felt like 'long lost relatives.' ... The room was a little dusty -- especially in the closet. But the bathroom was great and new and clean! Except that we could never figure out how to turn the light on in the shower stall. Air conditioning was great and the speaker system for the television was very cool. ... was fine ... no ... charming and convenient

the location of the hotel was a little further from the centre of Rome than I expected. ... A nice hotel, clean and comfortable with excellent staff. The only drawback is a lack of an elevator to the top floor, where we were staying, for taking bags up and down.

Very helpful ... Very clean, good service, but a bit of a pain to get to. (long walk to the center). But the bus service was good.

We were 5 women traveling together to celebrate our 60th birthdays on a budget. Being use to staying in 5 Star hotels when traveling with our husbands, we were somewhat dubious--especially because we were not in the best area of Rome. The grafitti on the exterior walls of the Donatello was not welcoming. HOWEVER, we were greeted like long-lost family and treated in the same manner throughout our stay. I would recommend this hotel with no hesitation --other than the part of town in which it is located. The receptionist and help were exceptional. (The 5-Star hotel personnel could learn some etiquette from these people.) ... (We HOPED the Hotel Donatello was going to be as good as it sounded on the internet; we were VERY surprised that it indeed was.) ... Very clean, beautifully decorated, nice breakfast, extremely accommodating staff.

Was not as close to the Coloseum as we had been led to believe. ... Clean, spacious, quiet family room, and friendly staff, Hotel Donatello offers excellent value for the budget traveller, it is not particularly central to the main attractions but within walking distance of the local metro station. Breakfast was basic but adequate for price range.

I was very impressed with the accomodation, it offered everything that was required for a short break in Rome. ... A great place to saty if you want easy access to the historic centre of Rome, at a reasonable price.

I would sugget to put a clearer map of the area (i.e. printer friendly)./ This will help on he ground to find easily the hotel. Excelent staff. ... The room was very clean, quiet and private. I would expect a bit more spacious room, but it was an ok double-size room. The bathroom was very clean and nice. The breakfast was nice but I would include some more variety (i.e. cornflakes, fruit, etc...) and some fruit juices a part from cofe and milk. ... It was really nice to get what we expected and for the price expected, no any last-minutes surpise. Excellent job! ... Really nice hotel with warm staff!

No elevator and my room was on the 4th floor. ... Nice staff and owners. The neighorhood was somewhat depressed but it was reasonably close to the train terminal. ... The owners were very helpful in working with me as a result of a pickpoket experience I had. ... There is no elevator and my room was on the 4th floor. ... Nice staff and owners but the neighborhood was a bit depressed. It was close to the train terminal and local bus/tram services.

Good value for the money. My only comment is that I wish Hotel Donatello would have something written regarding the transortation (what buses and trams get there) and how to use the telephone in the room. In American hotels they always have this information available in the room. The first night I was there they gave me a very noisy room close to the reception desk. The next morning I asked to switch and they did move me to a quite room. All in all I enjoyed my stay and was very comfortable after that first night.

I booked a double room with a double bed and got a twin. The room was clean and tastefully decorated. The gentleman who welcomed us was helpful informative and polite ... The room was a bit smaller than I imagined and the bathroom was very small. When you stepped out of the shower you were very close to the toilet. The tram ran quite frequently outside the bedroom window which was fairly noisy, but thankfully didn't continue all night. ... The staff were very efficient in dealing with checkout. They also were prepared to hold our baggage after checkout so we could do a bit of last minute sight seeing. ... As we only stayed for 2 nights we found it easier to use taxis to get to the sights as the public transport took a bit of getting used to. The hotel is about 10 mins taxi ride away from the main tourist areas. ... Very friendly helpful staff (who without we wouldn't have got to see the vatican) clean nicely decorated small rooms. Nice outdoor area to have breakfast weather permitting. Very meagre breakfasts, but we understand this is the norm for Rome. I would recommend the Hotel Donatello mainly on how nice the owner and his son were.

The street the hotel is located on was not very clean. ... The room was not cool when we checked in. When we returned the air conditioner was a full force and it was very cool but it was turned off sometime in the night never to come on again! It was very hot both days. ... Too far from a subway stop for what you pay for.

The gentleman at reception was extremely helpful and gave a lot of information to us about the local area and things we could do. ... The staff were helpful and polite throughout and were always on hand. ... Quick and easy, no problems. ... No. ... Very well run hotel, good facilities, and close to Termini station meaning travel to any part of rome is easy. Good location.

The gentleman at the reception was nice enough to help me carry my luggage into my room on the 3rd floor! it was nice of him ! ... The quality of the bath towels was not the best, too thin ! Also I had to ask every day for one more bath towel as I was given only one ! ... That the breakfast room in the basement should be more heated as it was chilly in the room in the mornings, although never as cold as here in Montreal, Canada ! ! ... It was a hotel off the main circuits for tourists in Rome but well connected with the bus no. 3 or the metro. A clean place with nice staff on board. The coffee at breakfast was very good. The phone system in the room is primitive a bit ! And the TV channels are quite restrictive !

kept bags as we arrived in am, put bags in rooms for us, gave us maps & hints ... the neighbourhood was a bit 'seedy' - not many places to eat ... new reception area being developed very noisy traffic if on road side of building ... small, 2 -3 star hotel, lots of marble, small outdoor patio, used to have a bar & restaurant, small but adequate room, very small bathroom, our room had cute little balcony , newly replaced windows, some rooms recently redone (not ours) 20 min. to Metro, long but do-able hike to sites

Directions on how to find the hotel could be improved. Especially as it so near to Termini Station and should be relatively easy to find from there. ... The hotel staff were always very friendly and willing to assist in any queries you may have had about transport, venues, sites etc. ... Very efficient.
