We had not anticipated that the hotel was situated within a residential building. This was no problem at all except that once inside the building, some indication of where to find the hotel reception would have been useful. ... The proximity to the railway station is a definite bonus (especially when your bags are heavy!!). Good position for exploring the city, particularly in relation to transport links, also good range of restaurants in the area. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful with baggage, information etc. and spoke excellent English (although they did also let me practice my Italian). We were pleased that we had booked a night for our return journey. We very much enjoyed the hotel and would recommend it to friends. The arrangement to take breakfast at the local cafe for us added to the charm and is typically continental, but may surprise those visitors who expect a 'sit down' formal breakfast. ... Directions are excellent but the building is not obviously a hotel at first sight. It may be in their interests to signpost the hotel a little clearer or for guests to be prepared for this. ... Family run hotel, conveniently situated for rail and bus links, and for visiting the city. Clean, stylish and comfortable, with very friendly and helpful staff who also speak excellent English. This is not a run of the mill international hotel that could be anywhere. You really feel that you ar eliving in Rome - wonderful. When next we visit Rome we would stay here again.

The promoted internet service was NOT available and we were told it will not be there for several more weeks. The breakfast at the hotel we were expecting was actually provided at the NON english speaking - stand up only ( despite knowiong one of us was disabled) tratoria over road. The airconditioning was turned OFF during our stay and only turned back on when we very strongly complained. I note they now say there are safes available. Are these in the office? Because they were not in the room nor were we offered this facility. Television also was in italian ONLY -- not much use to english speaking guests! Also now offering newspapers. Again not available to us on out stay. Again are they Italian language or other? Left was broken on our arrival al;tho it was fixed the next day. ... Altho I have ticked the 'exactly as on web site' Please refer to my comments. The lift is 100 years old and feels unsafe - even if it isn't! ... There is a street market held in the street outside the hotel each weekday for the local residents. Parking and traffic is not allowed into the street during this time including tour pick-up and drop-offs. ... Reasonable value for money at a reasonable walking distance from most major attractions. Comfortable rooms with acceptable facilities but check airconditioning and special needs like internet. Helpful, friendly family-run staff with acceptable english language skills. We would reccomend this hotel for mid range budget minded travellers.

The room was the smallest we had in all of the places we stayed in Italy. Other than than that, everything was great and the staff was very helpful! ... Maybe details about the area surrounding the hotel. Next time we will probably stay in an area with more restaurants... ... Very easy to get to. The staff is incredibly nice. The location is not near a lot of restaurants but the metro is nearby so you can basically get to anywhere from the metro. The rooms are very small...

We arrived late at night (1 am) and we were treated with the utmost curtesy. It was a very pleasant experience. ... The room was beautiful and clean. The sheets were crisp, bathroom was large, and the room was large enough for 3 people, 3 suitcases, and we could all walk around without climbing over each other. Very nice! ... The hotel is a wonderful place to stay while in Rome. The location was perfect - close to the train and bus station, and walking distance to many of the sights, including the coluseum. The room was large and clean. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay there again.

Massimo was very helpful throughout our stay. ... The Domus was excellent. It had a central location-walking distance to many sights and close to the Termini train station. It was in a very safe neighborhood. The brothers who ran the hotel were always very helpful and did whatever they could to make our stay enjoyable. We will stay at the Domus when we return to Rome and would recommend it without reservation.

The Hotel Domus Praetoria is tucked back on a side street 21/2 blocks from Termini Station. Easy walk with a reasonable amount of luggage. Quiet, spacious, exceptionally clean and attractively furnished rooms at a good rate for a 3 star, well located porperty. The management was very helpful and the room was ready at 11am after a long night train frm Geneva. Will return on our next adventure in Italy.

We arrived in the early hours of the morning feeling very tired and dissappointed as the taxi we had prebooked in the U K did not turn up to collect us from the airport to take us to our hotel. However on arrival at the hotel we were welcolmed by a man with such a warm and friendly attitude that these feelings soon faded away. ... Having read such poor reviews about Rome hotels we were a little unsure of what to expect. We need not have been concerned the hotel was excellent. The staff could not do enough to help and even resolved our taxi problems. The rooms were clean and of a high standard given the hotel rating, everything worked (air conditioning, toilets etc) and the hotel was quiet even though there was a market outside. ... Very efficient and helpful (see previous entry re taxis). ... It is a very friendly hotel with staff who are not in your face but are there when you need them and are very helpful and polite.
I would not stay anywhere else if I was to visit Rome again. ... A friendly, clean, quiet well run hotel with polite staff that I would certainly visit again.
Situated in a excellent location near the Termini, Metro and Bus Station (you could walk to the main attractions if you wished). Restaurants and bars nearby and although not in the centre of Rome the area was not intimidating and felt safe to walk around in.

While listed as a 3 star hotel, the service should be classified as 5 star based on our experience. We will definitely recommend this hotel to our friends. We arrived before the official check in time but were given the room straight away which was very convenient for us. Also, the staff at reception cheerfully offered to bring our luggage to the room for us. They made us feel very welcome. ... Very nice family run hotel. This was a very nice family who were very polite and helpful and they gave us some tourist brochures and a map of Rome to help us get around. They were happy to answer any questions we had and to make phone calls for us free of charge(such as to the airline to confirm flights etc). They treated us to a free meal at a local restaurant as well. ... This hotel is situated on the 2nd floor of a 100 year old building but the rooms are very modern, clean and comfortable, if slightly small. There is a daily cleaning service. The ensuite bathroom was modern with plenty hot water and good pressure from the shower. Some rooms overlook the courtyard so are very quiet. A street market operates every morning outside the hotel (great for buying fruit and vegetables). A great location, only a couple of minutes walk from Termini. Lots of restaurants and cafes nearby. This was a real experience of local lifestyle.

We went past the entry to the hotel the first time - easy to miss, but found it when retraced our steps. Once inside, took a minute to find reception, as a little tucked away. After that everything was great - very warm and helpful welcome, and great room. ... Very happy with our room and the service provided - extra pillows provided very quickly, helpful directions, voucher for breakfast etc. Great value for such a good location, close to but not right beside Termini. ... Very efficient, quick and friendly. ... I think the security of the building could be emphasised, as you certainly felt very secure once in. ... We stayed in this hotel last year and I remember that without instructions it would have been difficult to find as there is only a small named buzzer on the door. Reception is always staffed and they speak good English if you have no Italian language.
... Excellent hotel. Spotlessly clean, comfortable and well decorated. Our room this year was ENORMOUS. En suite bathrooms are modern, clean and well equipped. Rooms are air-conditioned. Windows double glazed which cuts out the street noise below. There are no public areas or breakfast room - you go across the road to a friendly bar/cake shop for a coffee and croissant with the voucher provided at reception. ... Having had my purse stolen on the bus returning to the hotel to collect our cases, we received a great deal of help to find telephone numbers and use the phone to cancel my credit cards. Very efficient and helpful. ... A very good hotel near to the station so it's not far to carry suitcases and is ideal for late arrivals. No need for a taxi. The area could possibly be a little seedy for ladies only but we've never had a problem. There is a street market which opens up every day on the street below which is interesting for a wander round. Overall it is excellent value for Rome and having stayed twice I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone. Well kept, clean and helpful.

The naming 'superior room' gave me the upfront impression that the room would be larger and I would have had a bath.
I was happy with the room after all, however I would advise you not to name it 'superior' as it was rather small and had a shower only; I was somewhat disappointed at first. ... The breakfast is really very modest - a cup of coffee with a donut. Very Italian, probably. ... Clerc advised me to pay cash, so I would get a 4% discount. That was nice. ... On arrival I walked completely by it - it appears to be a residential block, which in fact it is, with part of it forming the hotel. ... It is a lot of money but I do not think you would find anything better in that price range, so centrally in Rome. I would recommend it.

The desk clerk was most helpful and carried our bags up to our room. ... Room was newly remodeled and up-to-date, very clean and spacious, had a refrigderator9(can't seem to correct spelling error), lovely bedding and decor ... Excellent security through cameras, front door is locked and you have to buzz to get in, also a locked door on your floor and they buzz you in so very safe. ... The lovely hotel was just a 3 block walk from the train station. Someone was at the front desk 24/7 and always ready to help you with your questions, had a wonderful map to show you the easiest way to get to the sites, restaurants, etc. The room was spacious and beautifully appointed, everything had recently been redecorated, lovely bedding, draperies, etc. It was a very handy location being near the train station from which we always left for our various outings. There were not many good restaurants in the immediate area so we usually ate while we were in other areas of Rome. A delightful experience! I would choose this hotel again.

The staff are extremely helpful. Massimo went out of his way to help me when the taxi he called for me didn't arrive as expected. He asked me to wait in the shade, then he went out to the street to flag a taxi, then explained to the driver where I needed to go (since I don't speak Italian). Very helpful and nice staff. ... Great Property! Conveniently located to Termini, on a quiet street. There is a street market fronting the hotel during the day, which was convenient for produce.
