We were not told explicitly that we would have to pay in cash on arrival, and we had a bit of a rush to use ATMs to get that cash. Knowing about that ahead of time would have been very helpful. ... Having an apartment was wonderful and the free internet access made life much easier for one of our party who had to stay in touch with work. ... The website should clearly stipulate that the 'air conditioning' is not the entire apartment, but just one bedroom (it worked well, but only in that bedroom). Staying at La Dolce Vita in a long spell of hot weather would probably be uncomfortable. ... Quaint, great (FABULOUS) location, up numerous steps (be in shape and NOT disabled in any way), comfortable beds, very small kitchen (would not want to try to cook full meals for several people), terrific value for a group of people who want to be together. Don't stay there in really hot weather, but for most of the year, it's a slice of life in real Rome. And the local restaurants are great!

Leonardo was extremely helpful, taking us on a tour of local restaurants to help us in the choice for dinners. ... Except for the small kitchen, everything was great. The small kitchen reuired that I, the male, do most of the prep. work. The ladies needed the rest from the work at home. ... Everything is so close, we walked everywhere, and got great exercise too. ... No. ... Nicely set out living area, small kitchen, bedrooms with lots of storage, normal European small shower, unlimited Internet access, and free phone to North America.

The owner was at the apartment to greet us. We had arranged with the manager for an airport pick up but the driver was not there after a 30 minute wait so we hired our own cab. The driver would not drive into the street where the apartment is, so we had to walk a number of blocks and ask directions to find the address. ... The apartment was clean and well maintained, but do not expect 'new'. It is in an old building as you would expect. The kitchenette on the balcony was odd.
The manager and owner were both out of the country, and I could not get the contact number we were left to work.
The location is terrific, especially if you are interested in the Forum and Collosseum. The forum was about 1 block away, and part of the Augustus forum is at the end of the street, not more than a few yards away.
The neighborhood has many very good restaurants and gives you a view of how Romans live in Rome. ... Payment in cash (Euros) was required at check in, so be prepared. There is a post office close by for currency exchange which has a better rate.
Check out is at 9:00 but we were able to leave luggage in the apartment to pick up later. ... The location was the best part and very convenient. Be prepared to be on your own in Rome since there are none of the services of a usual hotel, i.e. concierge, tour advice, etc.
Both the owner, who lives in the building, and the manager with whom we booked the apartment, were out of the country. There is a caretaker who is in the building each morning cleaning, etc.

I think it is slightly unclear on the website that La Dolce Vita at the Forum is the head office property of the organisation and not necessarily the apartment you have rented. I got a lot of information about how to get to La Dolce Vita and how it had great views out the window etc and was in a great location - but it was not where we were booked to stay. Still the place we stayed was better in my view (more central) so I didnt mind - but someone might. ... The place was right by the Spanish Steps - it was lovely with big opening windows onto a busy Italian street with great restaurants all around it. It was so much better than a hotel and great value for money. We also felt very safe there including around the area at night because it was so busy - but it was very quiet (except when we had the windows open and the violinist was playing underneath the window!)

A very nice young lady did welcome us, explained everything (where to find the light .... how to open and close the doors) She informed us about how we can reach somebody if we will have problems, very friendly!! ... It was very nice to find bigger blankets in the cupboard. The guests from nothern Europe will appreciate it very much :-)))) ... We had to leave very early in the morning. It was very easy for us to be allowed only to leave the key on the table. The owners have really big trust in their guest. ... You should make more clear how quiet it is in this place. We never heard anything of traffic. It's a very important thing for many persons and make it more attractive if you really now how silent it is. Really unbelievable for a please in Rome! And I was three months in Rome, in different places, but never find silence :-))) ... A lovely place where you can be really for you own, very quiet, elegant, really special. It's not like beeing in a hotel, it's living in Rome, beeing a part of this great city.

'Breakfast' was not included, but was not really necessary. Each morning, we made our own esspresso coffee, and bought pastries at a nearby shop. ... Leonardo, our host, arranged for our luxurious transportation to the airport, using his 'regular' driver who has a 7.0 BMW. ... The apartment is located on a quiet street just east of the Forum. Our landlord, Leonardo, greeted us upon our arrival and then took us on a half hour walk around the neighborhood, showing us the best places to eat, to use the Internet, and to indulge in the best gelato we've ever tasted. The location was ideal for visiting Rome: during our six day stay we walked everywhere--Coliseum, Spanish Steps, Galleria Borghese, Narvona Piazza, Trestevere, the Vatican, Trevi Fountain. The apartment's two bedrooms were comfortable and the very tiny kitchen adequate. We liked our stay so much that we extended it for three days.

Taxi was able find with the directions and address given, would have been tricky for a non-Roma visitor to find since there are no markings on the entrance door. ... The apts were very cozy, great location, owner was on site and very helpful. Weather was great so didn't need AC with windows open. Internet was available which was a nice surprise. Would definitely stay here again! ... Paid upon arrival and owner was on site, so no problems. Just need to coordinate time with contacts available to make sure they are available since there is no 'front desk'. This is truly an apartment, not a hotel. ... Free internet was available if you have your own PC. ... Great place to stay, perfect location, quiet street and felt safe walking around at night. Plenty of shops, markets and restaurants near by.

Excellent!! ... A very good accomodation. It was a bit confusing what picture on the site that referred to what room. However did an excellent E-mail contact whith the management straighten it all out...and it proved to be correct!
... Perhaps it should be mentioned that the small kitchenette is situated out on the charming balcony. And in what way they handle the included breakfast. One might wonder whether it is delivered, provided for in a local cafe or as in this case handeld in another way. ... A great apartment very well situated. Very friendly and serviceminded personell and management. The place to stay at in Rome!

Out landlord was so helpful. He advised us on some places to eat or have a beer & also how to get to some places we wanted to go that were not on the tourist route. He gave us our bearings & was very plesant to deal with. ... It was stated that there were 2 rooms, one with a double bed & the other with a double & single bed. One of the rooms only actually had a double bed & a settee/sofa which would really only suit a child to sleep on. ... Our landlord gave us the details of the appartmetnt with telephone number, address & also details of taxis. Very helpful. ... It is on a quiet back street just 5 minutes from the Forum/Coliseum/Piazza Venitzia. All wounderful sites and so convenient for the Metro too. ... Lovely appartment and so convenient. There is a perfect little fruit & vegetable shop that also has ice cream/ milk & other essentials next door. The appartment was airy & comfortable to sit around & relax. We had a free telephone for all outgoing national and international land line calls, excellent facility.

When we arrived there was noone to open up and the apartment had not been cleaned after the previous guest(s). However, shortly after we telephoned the office someone arrived to let us in and clean the apartment. (We felt the cleaning could have been more thorough). ... La Dolce Vita at Forum is in a perfect location for exploring all the major attractions of Rome and we walked everywhere.
The apartment is spacious and very quiet. We found it a comfortable place to stay. Thank god for the air conditioner during the extreme heat wave that we had during our stay. (the air conditioner is quite noisy).
We think that some things could be improved, ie; the bed & linen, cutlery & plates & glasses. Although it is advertised as bed & breakfast, no breakfast was supplied until day 3 when we mentioned this to the manager.
There are many excellent restaurants nearby and also shops where you can buy provisions for eating inhouse.
Overall we had a wonderful stay in Rome and with a few improvements to some facilities, La Dolce Vita at Forum would be an ideal place to stay.
... Great location, old & with character, spacious and comfortable, but don't expect the same quality of fittings and facilities as at home.

Friendly, relaxed and very welcoming ... This location is a dream for everywhere site-seeing and its charm is its quiet location in a cobbled street so close to all the action.
Other reviewers have moaned about a small kitchen - let me say that overall this apartment is huge and a smaller but fully functional kitchen is absolutely fine. It is very cheap to eat out anyway so not sure why anyone would choose to cook in... ... Great to have the taxi confirmed for airport return. ... No ... This apartment has the best of everything; the most central location you can get, a quiet and elegant bolt hole after a day's sightseeing, fantastic value local eateries and best of all Leonardo the landlord who took us on a walk to recommend good food, incredible gelato and general advice about getting around. Trust me - if you appreciate quirky antique furniture you'll love this place. Our nine year old loved it but I wouldn't try it with buggies or toddlers.

I didn't expect the place to be as nice as it sounded on the internet. It was very clean and well appointed. Excellent location. We were very pleased. ...
