We arrived and were warmly greeted by a staff member (Emeldy) who immediately made sure that we were comfortable and had everything we needed after a long train ride from Paris. The proprietor (Rosa) then welcomed us and offered her assistance and advice on what to do and see in Rome, given that we only had a few days to spend. She then made a phone call and secured reservations for us to view the museum at Villa Borghese (usually a difficult ticket to procure). ... It was an ideal place. Better than we had expected. Quiet, clean, spacious and charming. Also an excellent bed. And every morning we were served a lovely (and substantial) breakfast in our room. ... We were sorry to leave. It was as if we were staying with friends. ... A bed and breakfast that provides a quiet, clean, spacious room, tastefully decorated, where you'll feel extremely welcome.

We did not know that we were supposed to call someone prior to our arrival to meet us there. Also, there was no phone convenient to use. A neighbor saw us and called Rosa for us and she was there with in 5 minutes. We arrived earlier in the afternoon than expected.

Our bags did not arrive with us at the airport and Rosa made several phone calls for us to help us get them. She was very hospitable and helpful. ... No ... Very clean and comfortable.

The woman who ran the bed and breakfast was very kind and accommodating. She gave us information on transportation, places to eat, and the latest on strikes, as well as the hours of the different sites and a map. In addition, she brought us breakfast to our room. The room we stayed in was about a 2 minute walk from St. Peter's Cathedral and very quiet. Especially nice was the fact that, unlike many owners of bed and breakfast places, she was always available if we needed her. This was one of the best places we have stayed in!

Although we arrived late at night, Rosa Maria was waiting for us and provided some basic information before wishing us a good night. She met us again in the morning and provided a wealth of information about Rome. ... Al Colonnato was wonderfully maintained. The rooms, furnishing, and bathrooms were in excellent condition. Great hostess who did her best to explain all the sites of Rome to us. Excellent breakfast: plenty of food, nice variety, great cappucino - always a good start to busy days. Good location near the Vatican and buslines 64 and 571 to get to all the major sites downtown.
