| | | Via dei Sabelli 98, Roma, 00185 |
Casa della Palma is located 1.2 km from Termini Railway Station and 1.5 km from Tiburtina Railway Station and Terminal Pullman. Casa della Palma in on number 98 of Via dei Sabelli, right in the heart of its block, at the corner of Via degli Ausoni. Arriving at number 98 don't look for the palm trees, they are inside, just buzz the brass entry phone on the left side of the front building in the street and you will be let in. We are in the courtyard. (Do not be surprised if on the other side of the road the uneven number is # 155, in Rome #'s don't go with the blocks). |

Here you find some useful information about arriving at Casa della Palma.
From the airports to the train stations
Roma Fiumicino Airport-Leonardo da Vinci FCA has a small 3 track train station from which you can either take the Direct Train to Roma Termini (scheduled every 30 minutes, leaving on the 7th and the 37th minute of every hour from 6:37 to 23:37, it will take 32 minutes), or, this is usually my personal choice, LEAST EXPENSIVE BEST TIP - take the Local Train in the direction to Orte or Fara or Poggio and get off at the 8th stop, at Roma Tiburtina Station (scheduled every 15-20 minutes, from 5:57 to 23:27, and it will take 41 minutes). MOST COMFORTABLE BEST TIP is to ask us to book for you a personal pick-up at the airport. As we don't take "the front desk commission", having your chauffer waiting for you at the Arrivals ends up being a much better, cheaper, and reliable service then any taxi. If you desire this service you will have to write us about a 3 or 4 days before your arrival, giving the exact flight number, Airline Company and landing time. Please do not ask for the service before this 4 days prior arrival since the shuttle company do not accept bookings in advance unless they are prepayed, and we would have to ask you anyway to write us again 3 - 4 days prior your arrival.
Roma Ciampino Airport CIA is the closest airport to town, but, having a lesser number of flights landing there, it has no train connection to the center of Rome. The least expensive option to reach us is a bit complicated and long, but quite inexpensive. You would have to take the Airport shuttle (about every 30 minutes) to Anagnina, the first stop of the underground Metro line A. Get off at the Manzoni Stop. Right outside the exit of the underground you have the stop for the number 3 Tramline, which you have to take in direction Thorwaldsen. The closest stop to Casa della Palma, about 50 meters, is Via dei Reti, about the 8th or 9th stop.Since there is no display on the tram telling you where the stops are, the best thing to do is ask the driver or some passenger to show you where to get off. Ryanair and Air Berlin have a bus service taking you to the area of the Central Train Station Roma Termini, do not waist time after arrival because right after the landing the bus will leave and there will be no other service until the next arriving flight of one of the 2 companies. The ticket has to be bought at a booth right in front of the arrivals. G0 has a similar service, but in that case the bus ticket has to be bought on the plane before landing. You can also take a Taxi. MOST COMFORTABLE BEST TIP is to ask us to book you a personal pick-up at the airport, as we don't take "the front desk commission", having your chauffer waiting for you at the Arrivals ends up being a much better and reliable service then any taxi, especially since taxi drivers sometimes give "fantasy rates".
Car rentals - driving to town is not that easy, access to the historical part of the center is forbidden and fined (electronical check), and parking around Casa della Palma requires payment by the hour (or parking in a garage), if you plan to spend several days in Rome before start your trip by car, a good tip is not to rent your car from the airport, but rent or book your rental for the day you are leaving town, all the rentals, but a couple, have an office and deliver cars in the central train station, Roma Termini, less then one mile away, and the other are just little more distance from here.
From the train stations to Casa della Palma
ROMA TERMINI Central Train Station and TIBURTINA Train Station, and Bus Terminal, are the two main stations in Rome, both are less then 1 mile from here. You can take a Taxi, which shouldn't be too expensive. Bus tickets must be bought before getting on the bus. On your first arrival I would suggest that you take a taxi, at the check-in we will give you very detailed information about using the transport system, bus tickets and more, and after that going around will be very easy. Roma Termini. Coming out directly from the air terminal, on the south side of the station, the street running along is called Via Giolitti; on it's second parallel, Via Turati, take bus 71 in the direction Tiburtina for about 6 stops. Or, coming out on the big square in front of the main entrance of the station, Piazza dei Cinquecento, on the other side of the big square take bus 492 in the direction Tiburtina for about 7 stops. The stop is the one on Via Tiburtina, at the corner with Via degli Ausoni. Roma Tiburtina. Coming out the main entrance, just crossing the road, you will find the stop for bus 71 and 492, the best one is 71, in about 7 stops it will take you two ½ blocks from here, the stop is on Via Tiburtina, at the corner with Via degli Ausoni. . After having gone up hill for ¼ of a mile, the bus will turn left and go down the street for 150 yards, then passing a traffic light it will turn right and make a stop - exit here. Walk back along Via Tiburtina and turn right on Via degli Ausoni. After two blocks turn left on Via dei Sabelli - we are 10 meters down Via Sabelli on the right. (Across the street from us is a small Bar/Café, #155)
TAXI - Use only official taxis similar to any other taxi around the world; they are white or yellow, with a taxi sign on the top and a "COMUNE DI ROMA" sign on the doors. People offering "taxi rides" are illegal drivers and expensive cheaters. Even with official taxis, if you don't feel easy about the amount of money they ask you for, please buzz us before paying and we will be very, very happy to come down in the street to check it. Even official taxi drivers try often to get more money than their due fare, but if they risk their license they suddenly become more reasonable.
Public transport system: the 75-minute ticket is valid on busses/trams/underground, can be bought at Tobacco shops, Newspaper kiosks, Bars, and have to be validated at the machine on board. Daily tickets are available, and use the same procedure (on sale only at the Transport System Booths, Roma Termini, the Coliseum Underground Stop ....) There is also a weekly ticket available.
BY CAR: The only freeway reaching Rome City center ends just 1/2 mile away, so Casa della Palma is very easy to reach by car. At the moment of your booking please write us a note about from which direction you will approach town, and we will be happy to e-mail you simple specific information.
Contact us by E-mail for any enquery regarding transfers and transportation. At the check-in we will give you very detailed information about using the transport system, bus tickets and more. With our advice, going around will be very easy!
HAVE A GOOD TRIP ! Alessandro |
