we got just what we wanted and if were in Rome again, we would stay at the Athena ... no problem and no issue's ... yes

I forgot my voucher/booking confirmation, and they couldn't find us on their books. However, they still found us a room (it was New Years Eve!) and there were no further problems. ... Not the Hotels fault, but the people in the room next door were very loud...so we did experience a few nights of disturbed sleep. The staff were very helpful with directions and transport. ... The staff ordered us a taxi for a very very early departure (4am) - very helpful and re-assuring. ... Cheap and basic but clean and friendly.

Nice and quiet neighbourhood! ... Good - cheap and clean! Great for people wich don't want to pay too much, in Rome one does not spend that much time at the hotel anyway!!

very satisfactory ... We had money stolen twice in Rome by Gypsies, and the hotel was very helpful and understanding in getting the financial matters straightened out. We very much appreciated their help. ... For a 2 star hotel in the University Section (not very close to tourist attractions), it was very good.

The reception is on the first floor and it was most alarming to arrive at the main entrance, which appeared to be private appartments. It was only that a resident let me in and spoke English so he told me to go up the stairs to reception. Later it became obvious what to do but for new bookings this direction should be included in your booking details. ... It was rather chilly in February and the extractor fan in the bathroom let cold air into the rooms at all times. The radiator was lovely and warm but this vent meant that I had a cold room. The breakfasts were very nice. There was a good range of food for a budget continental breakfast and 7 till 10 was a good time span. ... The hand held visa card reader would not read my credit card. Luckily I had a bank debit card. My card was fine as I had used it in Rome and afterwards. ... It was a nice safe place to stay for a woman travelling alone. It was handy for the bus stop. Please do mention that you need to buzz-in on arrival and that reception is upstairs. There are city plans and tourist leaflets in the TV room but I did not see these until time to leave. ... It was comfortable and clean. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was good. Out of season the bedrooms can be chilly. It was very handy for the bus service and the price was good.

A simple hotel with a corteous and helpful staff. Breakfast was better than expected and very good service from the madame governing the breakfast room. Rooms were spartan - as described. Spacious bathroom. The hotell was declared non-smoking but this was obviously not entirely adhered to. ... The hotell is actually situated one stair upstairs from the street-level. This created a little confusing upon arrival. ... Relatively good value for money - at least off-season. Nice breakfast. Good communications with frequent bus lines on the near street. Metro stations quite a walk away.

The stay was Ok, but the toilets were a little small... When I sat on it, I had to have my legs outside the door so it was impossible to close the toilet door... Also when we should shower we had to climb over the toilet to get into the shower, not a room for old people thats for sure... ... Fair place at a good price, with a fair breakfast and rooms with very small toilets and that you need to be an acrobat to get into the shower... :)

Unexpectedly, the cleaning of the room took not place every day, when one could not move out in the morning when the cleaning service came. ... An acceptable hotel located on the outscirts of Rome, good if one has business to do at the University La Sapientia, but a little far from the tourist attractions of Rome; so, for tourism there might be better locations. But since Rome is an expensive city, it is perhaps still acceptable in comparison to other hotels.

Booked a double bed ended up with a twin. ... Smallest shower/toilet cubicle in the world. Access to the shower was tight even for an average size person, a large person would not get into it. The room including the shower/toilet were not very clean. ... The smallest shower/toilet cubicle in the world, photographs would show how small before booking. ... Tired hotel in need of updating. Over priced.

The room was not very clean. The pictures shown on the site was very deceiving. They aren't in that great of condition. I think that you should reevaluate the property. But it in a great location. ... no ... The staff was great and always available ... no I don't
