The only comment was that our hosts on arrival didn't speak any English (this is in no way a complaint as we got by). ... A fantastic hotel in the centre of Italy, walking distance to the Colosseum & other attractions.

Early booking (10:40 am) were possible. ... Breakfasts were better than a simple continental. ... The Hotel is in the heart of Rome, good connections, Bus (electrical) nr. 117 circle line pass the hotel. Good restaurants next to the hotel.

The hotel was everything we could want, clean, comfortable and welcoming and we would have no hesitation in recommending it to our friends. We will certainly stay there again when we visit Rome. In addition it was near to the major tourist attractions. We did have an unfortunate experience at a Restaurant nearby, Risorante da Robertino, Via Panisperna. We were charged for bread which we did not order, we were told we could not order Spaghetti Bolognaise as a main course but worst of all, my husband could not eat his steak as it was all fat and bone. When we complained, the young woman in charge insisted we pay for this and was extremely rude. We also heard a German family complaining about their meal which would confirm the poor standard of food to be expected at this Restaurant. I would certainly warn any visitor to the Apollo to avoid this Restaurant. ... The bedroom was clean and comfortable, fresh towels provided regularly and the room serviced to a very high standard. I had read in some reviews of this hotel that the towels were thin but this was the type of linen used. In fact due to the heat, we showered two or three times a day and these towels dried out much better than the thicker towels we are used to in the UK. The air conditioning in the room was efficient and although the view from our bedroom was from the back of the hotel, we found the apartments we overlooked very interesting, giving us an insight into the lives of ordinary citizens of Rome. Breakfast very enjoyable and the scent of the shrubs surrounding the roof garden will remain with me for a long time. ... We were able to leave our luggage safely until we left the hotel mid-day. ... Clean, comfortable and friendly. Close to all major tourist attractions.

Excellent friendly staff and good very clean accommadation. The breakfast on the roof terrace was lovely as was the range of excellent food. ... only a little more was paid on departure but didnt mind as the service received was of a high standard. ... Excellent clean hotel, good location with lovely, helpful friendly staff. When I return to Rome I would definatley stay at the Apollo again.

Regarding question 1, we did not require directions, since the hotel had arranged for a taxi from the airport.
... Although the quality of the rooms was very good, we were given a couple of bath towels which had seen better days - there were holes in them - but linen was spotlessly clean. ... Another taxi was arranges for transfer to the airport, and everything arrived on time.
... The Albergo Apollo was a spotlessly clean and very comfortable hotel - ideal for a short city break, situated as it was within walking distance of all the main attractions. We received the friendliest of welcomes. Nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was more than adequate and very tasty. We would definitely recommend this delightful hotel.

The Hotel was very central and within walking distance to most major sights in Rome. The hotel owner and family were all very friendly and breakfast was great in the roof top garden. Although the bedroom was on the small side both the bedroom & bathroom was very clean and very comfortable. We would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to any of our friends as we really enjoyed our stay in Rome. ... Hotel staff very efficient and helpfull ... A minor complaint was that the A/C was not operating at the time of our stay and that the shower is very tiny however we we did not find this as much of a problem. ... The rooms are very clean, comfortable and the hotel is very central to all major sites in Rome - highly recommend this hotel.

They were charming and friendly and helpful in every way. ... It was exactly the accomodation I needed - clean, comfortable and quiet. I was there for the marathon and its location was absolutely ideal for that! Good restaurants in the area as well. I felt safe at all times. ... They were very accomodating about keeping my luggage until I finished the marathon and having a bathroom available for changing and clean-up. ... Ideal location for participants in the Rome marathon ... I would definitely recommend it and already have. The family atmosphere was wonderful and the breakfast room was a highlight!

The front desk was friendly and very helpful. ... Of the two weeks we were in Italy, the breakfasts at the Apollo were the best. Lovely setting on the roof. ... Most helpful staff. I recommend this hotel to anyone I know going to Rome. ... There's so much to see all around this hotel. The location could not be better. Also we found a couple of restaurants just steps from the hotel that were fabulous. ... Perfect! We really enjoyed our stay.

We arrived before check in time and were immediately shown to our room. We were thoghtfully put next door to the other members of our party. ... The rooms were newly furnished, very clean and well appointed. We really enjoyed our stay. ... A very well situated hotel, being very close to the forum and the colliseum. Near to metro station and connection to main Termini station. Pleasant, friendly staff, well appointed accomodation. Nice roof terrace for breakfast. Would definately stay there again.

Lovely air-conditioned lobby and automatic doors.
Roof terrace is only open at breakfast and not during the day which is a shame as it would have been great to sit out later in the day. ... Great location, safe area, decent sized rooms, friendly staff, good value for money for a hotel in the middle of Rome.

The breakfast on the rooftop terrace was very nice and substantial. Good range of food (meat, cheese, cereal, bread and a nice mixture of fruits). Without a doubt the best cappucino that I've had -- way better than those made in North America. ... Staff are wonderful -- all were very polite, friendly and helpful with directions etc. ... Hotel Apollo is in a wonderful location in Rome. Just a few blocks from the Forum and Coliseum and within walking distance of all the major areas of the city you could want to visit. There are a couple of good restaurants on the same block and some nice deli's on the same block as well if you want to buy some food for a picnic lunch. I would stay there again if I went back to Rome.

The only problem we had is that the air conditioning was not good - probably because we were there during an unusually hot period (36 deg. C).

It really is in the best location - walking distance of almost all the major sites, from the classical ruins to the squares and fountains of central Rome. We also liked that it was in a neighborhood loaded with good restaurants, wine bars, etc., yet not in the middle of the crowded tourist scene. Breakfast on the roof was a good feature.

Greeted by one of the family who own the hotel.Extremely courteous and helpful. ... The apollo is a lovely quiet hotel away from the main throngs yet within walking distance of sites.Everything was spotlessly clean and the breakfasts were excellent particularly the coisants. The staff were always friendly courteous and helpful. ... Once again a family member was there at checkout. They were swift, helpfuland ordered a taxi for us to the train station. ... Could not find any negative points about the albergo apollo. One big positive point was the suite which we were given and was not evident on the website. It was an absolutely beautiful bedroom with sitting room and patio doors that led to a small private patio surrounded by flowers.i have a little hesition about mentioning this as perhaps it could be too popular and we may not be able to book it again ourselves. ... I would higly recommend this hotel to anyone. It is a smallish family run friendly hotel. It fulfills every need that one requires for an enjoyable and unforgetable stay in Rome. You would be hard pushed to find better.

They were quite helpful as I was less than alert after flying all night and asked a lot of relativley stupid questions which they patiently answered. ... The room was clean and had the promised amenities but it was very small.
The staff was generally helpful and pleasant and my only complaint is that they recommended one restaurant in glowing terms. We went to the retaurant and from our viewpoint it was very ordinary, not terrible but also not particularly good. Since person at the desk in the hotel made a point of emphasising we should give the waiter their card we got the impression that perhaps the hotel got some kind of a kickback. This was particularly true because the restaurant was so very ordianry we could't really figure out why they would have recommended it in such glowing terms. ... Value is a relative term based on the location. It was the most expensive of the lodgings on our two week trip ( which included a number of lacations in Tuscany including Florence) and certainly it provided the smallest room and bathroom, but it seemed to be a good value as compared to the advertised price of other hotels in Rome.

The room and certainly the badroom was rather small, and the bed could be more adapted to modern standard (kingsize would be better than the 1.40m wide)
