We were not aware of the need to telephone ahead to notify of our time of arrival and we were 30 minutes trying to find the B&B in the building before the owner telephoned us on our mobile. He then arrived to check us in within 15 minutes. This was quite disconcerting after a long journy and being in a new city. It needs to be made really clear to clients that there is no reception and that the owner does not live on the premises so that prior notification of the time of arrival is essential. ... We checked ourselves out. We did not meet the owner after our check in. ... As at 5 above ... Very comfortable, accessible and central to the main attractions particularly Vatican City. A really good place to stay in Rome

Owner lives nearby so there is need to be precise on arrival time. ... Our front room had rooftop view of Vatican. Nice big window though early a.m. street market setting-up and general traffic noise could be bit noisy for some. ... Lack of staff on site bit of a handicap however owner who spoke limited English was helpful when available and kindly arranged early morning taxi to airport for us. Lack of common use area and/or no breakfast room plus no chairs in room made living cramped. Breakfast modest ie no fresh coffee or breads. ... Adequate accomodation value for Rome, slightly off-beaten track provided some local colour with sufficient easy walking distance choice of restaurants and shops. We enjoyed stay and being within walking distance to Vatican and other major sites like Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain.

We arrived very late around 1 am, but there were people there to meet and greet us, which was nice, as we had not visited Rome before. ... The Andrea Doria met all our expectations and we enjoyed staying there. The room was clean and met our needs. The only critisism is that there was no milk for coffee or tea, and there was nobody around at all to talk to, if there were problems, which there were none. ... There was no one around to check us out. I did phone the number on the booking form and asked if we could leave our case in the premises later than we checked out and they very kindly agreed. ... I think people should be aware that even though it is a B&B there it is in an apartment and there is no one around. If anyone has any problems, then they need to phone the number on their booking slip. ... I would say it was a lovely central place to stay, on a street with some nice restaurants in the evening and a busling market street during the day, and a 10 minute walk to the vatican city.
When we return to rome, we definately stay there again.

It was not clear that we should phone in advance and so we had a slightly confusing moment before telphoning the owener. ... Breakfast, though provided, is minimal! ... A great place to stay to be close to central Rome but see a little of local life too. Beautiful bedrooms and good bathrooms.

Unattended B & B limits arrival arrangements that were requested. ... The staff were polite, but initially did not want to accept a credit card as advertised. The room was clean, but on a busy street with quite a bit of street noise. ... Except for the street noise, the physical property was nice, but the difficulty of working with an unattended property and the lack of service was not in keeping with the price. We checked out by leaving the key in the door.
