Accommodations

Because of the period they were built, buildings in the old city centre do not usually have lifts. Thus the finest storey of these "palaces", where the owners would live, was the first floor, known in the past and still today as the "Noble floor", often distinguishable by the outside decorations, the greater ceiling height and important interior decorations. Some buildings have had a lift installed in more recent times, often to the detriment of the original structure and character. The apartment we offer is on the noble floor. After entering the building from the street, access to the apartment is via two short, easy-to-climb flights of stone stairs adorned with arches.

The main features of the apartment are:
- its very recent renovation using traditional, luxury materials, such as "cotto" floor paving, visible wooden beam ceilings and marble in the bathrooms;
- its fully external aspect, meaning that every room is bright, with 4 windows looking onto Via del Governo Vecchio and a window onto Vicolo della Cancelleria: luxury furnishings, with antique furniture belonging to the owners, an old and noble Roman family; all new upholstery, with classic, luxury fabrics, being careful to match colors in the various rooms, centuries-old decorations, often present on the noble floor of Rome's buildings, in this case consisting of fragments of 17th century frescoes brought to light, restored and enhanced with the recent restructuring work, modern, sophisticated technical fittings appropriate for a luxury apartment, very efficient and rational distribution of interior spaces. Finally, handmade wooden fittings on the inside and modern fittings on the outside for perfect heat and sound insulation.

The apartment covers a surface area of about 87 square meters, and consists of an entrance hall, kitchen area, living room, master bedroom with double bed, bathroom, second bedroom with double bed or twin beds and second bathroom. The entire apartment has a "cotto" tiled floor. It is endowed with modern wardrobes in the bedrooms and corridors, as well as extensive storage space above the false ceiling in the entrance hall. The apartment is air conditioned for both the winter and the summer; with individual controls in every room. The entrance hall, decorated with fine ancient panoramas, provides access to all rooms, except for the kitchen area, access to which is via the dining area of the sitting room.

The master bedroom comes with double bed and has a large window overlooking onto Via del Governo Vecchio brightens up the room. It is furnished with antique furniture and paintings and has a nice big built-in wardrobe. The ceiling has old wooden beams. A corridor from the bedroom to the entrance hall, closed by a door to isolate the area, leads to the first bathroom.

Belonging to the first bedroom, the first bathroom is also accessible via the corridor, thus allowing access from all parts of the apartment. Fittings are made from marble, with large mirrors built into the walls. It has every comfort, plenty of space for putting things, a bath tub with shower unit, an electric water heater hidden above the false ceiling and an electric heating element that also serves as a towel holder. The whole bathroom is totally new, offering the utmost comfort and style.

Second bedroom with double bed or twin beds: a little smaller than the first bedroom, it has identical features, with a large window looking onto Via del Governo Vecchio to illuminate the room. Again it has antique furniture and paintings and a modern wardrobe. The room can be prepared with a double bed or twin beds.

Belonging to the second bedroom, it is also accessible to all occupants of the apartment. It is slightly smaller than the first bathroom, and has a shower unit. It has the same level of luxury, with marble and mirrors and electric water heater hidden away above the false ceiling.

Sitting room: The largest room of the apartment, covering a surface area of about 25 square meters. It is on the corner of the building, looking onto both Via del Governo Vecchio, with two windows, and Vicolo della Cancelleria, with the third window, making it particularly bright. The "cotto" floor tiles, old wooden beam ceiling, some fragments of 17th century frescoes that have been recouped and renovated make this a treasured and welcoming room. It has a comfortable three-seater couch and two "Bergère" armchairs, with a sideboard for the dinner service and to put things on, a coffee table by the side of the sofa, a low table in the middle of the room and a carpet. In the dining area a table is laid for four persons, but can be lengthened to accommodate 6 to 8 diners, with relative chairs. There is also a television cabinet and Hi-Fi centre. The walls are decorated with mirrors that serve as light decorations and large paintings. Everything is antique, apart from the couch, which can be turned into a comfortable double bed. This room contains the main technological systems, like the flat-screen television with satellite TV, VCR-DVD player, Hi-Fi, cordless phone and ADSL line for the computer.

Kitchen: This is a small room that is accessed via a door from the sitting room. Despite its small size, it has everything needed to comfortably prepare meals for six people. There is plenty of space for pots, pans, cutlery and all other accessories. The cooker is electric, with four rings. There is also an oven with microwave, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, stainless steel sink and draining board, electric toaster and blender.
